My wife and I wanted to top off a relaxing trip at the Poconos with a nice early meal. From the outside, better than average curb appeal. Walking in was disappointing. I wanted to give this place a chance because I belive in supporting local business. Not much of a wait, but also we were going during the late afternoon also. Staff was not friendly or engaging. The waitress was unable to answer questions about the menu. We ordered martini's, not good not bad. What really got me is that I was charged over $11 for a drink that was $10 on the menu, and my wife' s drink was $10 for a $8.50 drink. The waitress response was it was because of the vodka. I didn't ask for top shelf, and I doubt we were given top shelf. Oh the food.... I ordered the steak and grilled shrimp with a Jim Bean reduction. What I got was warm slices of meat with a warm sauce on the side, not reduced! What I got was a dipping sauce. Garlic potatoes were not available nor the Jack Daniels reduction. Vegtables were bland and unexciting. To be fair the grilled shrimp were fine. I expect more for a $25 plate. My wife had a german dish, again unexciting for a $25 dish. I've worked in fine dining, my wife is a dietitian and we honestly could not draw anything positive about this experience. If you value your hard earned $$, please do not dine here. Again your better off eating fast food that the "Big A" hole. The "A" is probably short for aweful. I wasted $74, plus 10 % tip. I am a great tipper and I couldn't do it. After the waitress didn't take off the additional charges or provide a reasonable explanation for the added charge, I was done. You've been warned. Hope this helps someone. ...read more

My wife chose the Big A Grillehouse over some of the chains. They surpassed our expectations. Charming staff and atmosphere. I had Italian eggplant & pasta and the wife had filet mignon, very good. The kids loved the pizza and chicken. All said was probably the best we had in the Poconos. Outstanding tiramisu. Next time we're in the Poconos we'll definetly go back. ...read more
