I scheduled routine service of our electric water heater and boiler. They did not show up for the scheduled appointment and did not contact me to let me know they would not be able to make the assigned time or to reschedule. I called and left a message to find out if I was mistaken in my schedule (confident I was not, but to give them an easy out and reschedule), but have heard nothing back from them. Deserve only one star, but based on the other reviews, and at least they were polite and responsive to the *original* scheduling, and seemed reasonably priced based on quote, I have to give them some benefit of the doubt... however they completely dropped the ball in my case, and at a minimum a courtesy returned call would have been lovely. My AC unit conked out on a Sunday this summer, I called on a Sunday afternoon and Tony had a guy out to my house in less than one hour. I was not charged weekend rates like the other guys and was very pleased with the repair costs. I would recommend Heart Heating Pros to my friends and my family and have done so. Home Heating Tips Winter is upon us and with high oil prices a concern, many consumers may find themselves going over budget trying to heat their homes. Here are some tips to help keep costs down this season: Shop around. Fuel prices may vary between areas and competitors. Avoid binding arrangements. It is difficult to shop for the best fuel prices if you agree to use the same dealer for service and supply. Maintain your heating system. Have it checked by a professional at least once a year and change the filters regularly. Adjust thermostats; keep it 65 degrees during the day and 55 degrees during sleeping hours or when you will be away from the house for several days. Open blinds on the south side of your home during sunny days, close them at night and on cloudy days. Don't heat unused space. Keep doors to those rooms shut when not in use. Install storm doors and windows. The space they create makes an excellent insulator. Have adequate insulation throughout the house and around your water heater. Seal cracks and holes around windows and doors, like ones to the basement and attic. Additionally, be sure to read and understand any heating supply agreements, especially the fine print.The contract should contain the date and the name and address of the business. Make sure verbal promises are incorporated into the written contract. Contracts should contain specifics concerning payment and delivery dates plus a "Notice of Cancellation," which gives consumers three days to cancel a contract when it involves services within the consumer's home. Finally, remember to keep a copy of the agreement for your own records. If you or someone you know needs help paying heating bills, the Pennsylvania Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, can help for both home owners and renters. Additionally, Pennsylvania's Department of Community and Economic Development Unit can provide free weatherization services if you qualify.
