What is Hood Cleaning? Or also know as Kitchen Exhaust Hood Cleaning.
I have been asked more times then not, "What do you do, again?" To answer it's I'm a kitchen exhaust hood cleaning contractor in Oregon. There Reply. " A what?".... So what it hood cleaning? First you must know what a hood is. A hood is the device used to contain the exhaust cooking fumes in a kitchen, and pull or suck them out or exhaust them.. That Hints the reason some refer to them as exhaust hoods. Still in question... Think of your own kitchen, above your store you have a HOOD, it's the tin thing with a light and a fan. You use it when you boil or burn something to get rid of the effect or exhaust of cooking. If you have ever been in a restaurant or a commercial kitchen (cafeteria) they would have a hood above there cooking appliances. The Hood system consist of three components. The hood it's self in the kitchen, the duct work, or flue, (the path the exhaust fumes run out), and the exhaust hood fan, usually located on the roof. So in a commercial kitchen there is lots of cooking, as they cook the heat and vapor form both the food and appliances are released in to steam or smoke. These exhaust fumes are grease laden, As the fumes are pulled up the exhaust hood system they cool agaiinst the componests of the hood system. Then cooled they resin-ate the leave behind "grease". This grease must be maintained to a minimal to keep the kitchen in codes with fire and local health codes. That's where hood cleaners come in, they set up the "kitchen" with a cleaning interval that best maintains the minimal amount of grease in there hood. Usually set forth by local codes, or sections of the NFPA '96. Most comun intervalls are every 3, 4, or 6 months. This depending on the volume of cooking, type of cooking, and type of hood system. So the process, Hood cleaners come in after or before cooking hours to remove this grease. To do this the hood must be bagged to contain or catch the run off water. A steam cleaners is used from top to bottom to steam clean all grease in all areas of the exhaust hood system. Waste water is neutralized to proper PH and disposed of in a grease trap. Sounds easy? There is a lot of trade secrets and techniques that go into a "Good hood cleaners Process". With out training and experience this hood cleaning process is a total mess. Lots of water damage can happen in a short amount of time. More information contact Statewide Exhaust Services LLC or Oregon. 541-744-8810. Carpet Left Wet is Your Worst Nightmare
It can happen anywhere carpet and moisture meet. Let water remain for over 48 hours and mold and mildew will start to grow. This can happen many times by accident. A plant over-watered or watered carelessly and the next thing you know, there's a "strange" odor in the area. A similar thing can happen in your car by a leaky trunk or sunroof. It doesn't take long for mold and mildew to grow and cause your vehicle to smell. What happens if your toilet overflows at home and your restroom is carpeted? Even if it's not, it's likely there's carpet just outside the door and if not taken care of right away, it won't be long before you have a real problem on your hands. I recently got a phone call from a customer that had a large leak in one of his commercial office buildings. When we were called and went to see what we could do, we found old jute padding under the carpet--it was soaked! jute is an natural plant-based product not used much these days. One of my technicians who was trying to remove water from this saturated carpet said the water was wicking back up to the surface almost as fast as he could suck it away. In this type of situation we always recommend the old carpet pad be pulled and discarded and new synthetic pad put in it's place. Whether it's your car, your bathroom at home or an office--if you have carpet that has become soaked in some way, your best bet is to call in a professional carpet technician who knows how to remove the water and treat the area with a mildicide (a chemical that will kill the mold spores so they cannot grow). Left on it's own, mold and mildew can become toxic to your health and the bad odor will be difficult to get rid of. ...read more
