Terrible company that will not allow defective products to be returned, or get a refund. \t\n\t\nDo not do business with this scam company. They will rip you off, and there is little you can do about. Support honest merchants by shopping with real companies. ...read more

basically we shop here not because it is the least expensive but because we know the price will be fair. Why? Simply becasue they have such a good return policy if i don't feel it is worth what i paid becuase it didn't perform or fell apart then they take it back and i get a full refund. If the product works as intended then I keep it and find the value i paid out of it if not more! ...read more

SK Northwest

I have gone into SK Northwest on five different occasions to buy gear for my snowmobile and four-wheeler but I will never visit them again. The Staff seem friendly for the most part but they are all terrified of the Boss Man "SK" (Shawn Karambelas) and it didn't take long to find out why. Several salespeople had mentioned that this guy, Shawn, goes around all day telling his employees that they are worthless and blames all of the dealership's problems on everyone but himself. I didn't believe it until I witnessed Shawn yell at an teenage female assistant until she cried and left the property (I assume she didn't come back to work for him). Needless to say that my problem with SK Northwest is not their product selection or quality of work, but I refuse to enable a maniac with no regard for respect toward his employees. ...read more

Every time that I have been in the store the staff has always been very helpful and extremely patient. I had put some cash down on a wetsuit some time ago(back when the economy was still decent), I was worried that I would just have to cut my losses and lose the cash, but when I had explained the situation they were so sweet and suggested that I bring in the receipt to show exactly how much I had put down, finish paying off the remaining balance and take home my sweet wetsuit! LOVE THEM AND THE SUIT! THANKS GUYS AT THE GORGE! ...read more

Left my board with gorge to be fixed, I said I may want to put it on consignment but wasn’t sure, after months of calling (I left it their in oct) and making sure they still had my number I called again yesterday to find that they lost my number and went ahead and sold my board. After getting really upset with bob on the phone he said that he would give me a discount on the fix and waive the 10% commission, but still treated me like he was doing me a favor and like I was just some A hole jerk. So my $500 board, - $75(fix), -7 months of my life I wont get back, + making me feel like I was a jerk = $225 check and seaside surf as my new surf shop ( : ...read more

I recently accepted a job in the northern part of Alaska. Being a boy who grew up in a tropical country and pampered by the mild weather of the NW, I have really no idea of what to bring. So, I went into REI and asked for help from Joyful. Indeed, she made my day. From the moment I asked her my first question, she is so friendly, enthusiastic, and full of wise advice. She accompanied me for full 45 minutes advising me everything from baselayer to outerwear. She does not pressure me to buy anything but just giving me great suggestion. It is a great experience shopping there and I will be always coming back to REI for any of my outdoor/sport gears\t\n ...read more

Hands down OMC is the best place to go in Portland for all of your gear. Not only do they have the best selection and prices, but their staff knows what they're talking about. Other shops in the area either have a limited selection (Mountain Shop), old/sketchy used gear (Next Adventure), or think they're too cool for their customers (US Outdoor Store). What I like the best: they don't cater to the snowboard crowd, just the backcountry folk. \t\n\t\nThere are only a few downsides. Finding what you need is sometimes difficult, especially the clothing, which is packed tight. Staff, though helpful, is hard to engage. Often they are having conversations with each other, on the computer, or there's only one or two staff members on a floor. I've been coming here since before they moved to the east-side and here are my tips for getting the best service at OMC. 1) Don't go first thing in the morning, most of the staff hasn't arrived yet, wait until an hour after they open. 2) Between 2pm and 5pm on most days everyone seems to disappear (lunch?). 3) They close promptly, don't show up 10 minutes before they close and expect great service. 4) Don't expect the same selection or type of gear that you find at REI. OMC doesn't have everything, but they come as close as any local store can come. No car camping stuff here (let's hope they don't sell out). 5) This one is the most IMPORTANT: Ask for help. My friends will go in and not seek out anyone to help them and leave upset. I'm less shy, ask for what I need and always get the best service. ...read more

Seven years ago I purchased a mini wardrobe predominantly from R.E.I. for a month long mountain climbing excursion. Since that initial abuse, these clothes have received regular rotation for cooler seasons, mini hikes, neighborhood walks, the humdrum normalcy of everyday life, but seven years none the less. When I purchased these items I considered them moderately to ever so slightly high priced. After witnessing their wear I would call them a steal. They are in just as good condition as the day I got them. ...read more

I've been into OMC a few times since they moved out to Sandy Blvd. Their retail space is definately better than it was downtown. Things are a bit messey there though, they look a bit unkept. The staff seemed to be doing other things the last time I was there, even though there weren't many customers in the store. It took a little while for someone to come check on me, and the person who did was none other than the owner (a real nice guy); after that a few others came to see if I needed anything. There products are top quality, their prices are average except when on sale (they always have some good deal), the only thing lacking a bit is their selection (I'm thinking specifically of tents, they only have three or four brands). Overall not a bad place to gear up. ...read more
