Difference Between Baseball and Soccer Cleats
Baseball cleats and soccer cleats look very similar. It may be hard to tell the difference between the two types of cleats at first; however, there are a variety of differences between the two. For example, soccer cleats do not have cleats in the midsole region of the shoe and baseball cleats do.
- The weight of baseball cleats and soccer cleats is different. Typically, soccer cleats are lighter than baseball cleats. This is because during soccer, the foot is constantly in motion and needs a lighter shoe to feel the foot connecting with the ball. Baseball shoes are typically made of thicker upper materials.
- Soccer cleats do not have cleats on the midsole of the shoe; baseball cleats do. Soccer shoes are designed this way to help keep the players feet lower to the ground and the center or gravity lower to the ground to help the player with control.
- Baseball cleats are often made out of leather, and soccer cleats are commonly made out of thinner materials such as vinyl or other lightweight synthetic materials. Soccer shoes need to be made of thin materials to keep the shoe lightweight, baseball cleats do not need to be lightweight to perform.
- Soccer cleats feature special stitching for increasing shooting power and friction between the soccer cleat and the ball. Baseball cleats have standard stiches as the foot of a baseball player does not come into contact with the ball. Baseball cleats are used to help players get a grip in the ground to provide traction.
