Recently I left my keys in the car and didn't discover that I did till I had finished shopping. I went back into the supermarket and asked for help. They had the number for this locksmith, apparently this happens a lot. My Portland Locksmith came fast. By the time I got home the frozen things were still frozen. I recommend the services of this locksmith. ...read more

I have used HSI at one of our commercial locations for 3 years and have nothing but positive feedback. They are thorough and professional. And best of all, there is no long term contract. Slightly less expensive than Protection One, and way better customer service. Have you ever tried to cancel a contract with Protection One? Good luck - I spent two years negotiating after we closed one of our retail stores and ended up paying $900 out of the $1400 they said we owed. I WILL NEVER USE PROTECTION ONE AGAIN!!! The local branch manager, Shane Hyland, was rather uncooperative, especially give the outcome of the settlement. His sales guy, Cody Tooze, seemed to want to work with us and find an amicable solution, but Shane showed absolutely no willingness to work out a deal. Good riddance Protection One - HSI will get all my business in the future. ...read more

Workplace Safety

How much do you really think about the environment you work in?  How safe is it?  What types of policies, devices and equipment are in place to keep you safe from accidental injury? The CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) has a wonderful article about Falls and related injuries in the workplace.  They state that "falls are a persistent hazard found in all occupational settings. A fall can occur during the simple acts of walking or climbing a ladder..."  According to the 2009 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 605 workers were killed and an estimated 212,760 workers were seriously injured by falls to the same or lower level. "...The highest counts of nonfatal fall injuries continue to be associated with the health services and the wholesale and retail industries. " Most notably, they mention that "circumstances associated with fall incidents in the work environment frequently involve slippery, cluttered, or unstable walking/working surfaces... ". "Successful reduction of fall injury and fatality rates requires continued concerted efforts of regulators and industry leaders, professional associations and labor unions, employers and employees, safety professionals and researchers in enhancing the work environment, implementing new effective fall prevention and protection technologies, and improving the work safety culture through continuous education of the workforce. NIOSH, as the leader in occupational safety research, plays a key role in these complex fall-injury prevention efforts." Columbia Supply can help with your efforts to reduce workplace injuries due to falls, slips, and trips.  The simplest and most cost effective way to help prevent onsite injuries to your personnel and to your customers is to implement the use of non-skid water and dirt trapping floor mats.  Unlike solid rubber mats, our unique coil 'loop' mats are constructed to accept and keep dirt within the mat.  Moisture is also trapped in the mat, reducing 'tracking' onto your hard floors.  In other words, when our mats are used, you will experience a significantly reduced amount of moisture and wet dirt buildup in your entry areas, shipping/loading areas, kitchens, bathrooms, dishwash/food prep areas, locker rooms, and anywhere else where you might experience wetness.  Solid rubber mats can't compare.  And, our coil floor mats are heavy duty, flexible, and very easy to clean.  Rubber mats are very heavy and can become cracked, chipped, and stained over time.  Our safety floor mats are UV rated, chemical and fire resistant, and light-weight.  In addition, they pull double-duty - at 1/2" thick, they are great for areas where you need anti-fatigue properties as well as a safe floor space. By using our safety mats, you will realize savings in many areas of your business.  You will SAVE on your liability insurance by reducing injuries in the workplace; you will SAVE on the high costs associated with an employee that becomes injured at work; you will SAVE by reducing injury risks to customers that may open you up to a lawsuit; and you will SAVE by providing a SAFE  AND CLEAN environment overall. Contact Columbia Supply today and ask about our Safety Floor Mats for your business. ...read more
