I found Rachel on Merchant Circle and also through a sign in front of the studio she works from in Oregon City. I was in desperate need of a lower back/sciatic nerve help. I sit at my desk working from home many hours. I had developed over time these huge knots that I just couldn't get worked out. She was great! I had 90 minute apptointment with her and I much needed that. When I left I felt so much better and as the week wore on I could move better and get back to my yoga at home and have some stretching. I had not been able to do this before the appointment. I am so grateful for her special gift! Thank you Rachel! `Enjoy your day ~Annette ...read more

Recipe of the Month: Hearty Lentil Spaghetti

This. Is. So. Good!!! I made this recently when hubby was out for the night. The kids are pretty easy to please, as long as the supply doesn't run out, so I opted to make a meatless dish for us. I don't think I'll ever go back to "traditional" spaghetti after this.  Hearty Lentil Spaghetti Ingredients 3/4 cup chopped onion 1 tablespoon olive oil 2 garlic cloves, minced 1-1/2 cups dried lentils, rinsed 4 cups vegetable broth 1/2 teaspoon pepper 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper 1 can (14-1/2 ounces) Italian diced tomatoes 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste 1 teaspoon white vinegar 1-1/2 teaspoons dried basil 1-1/2 teaspoons dried oregano 12 ounces uncooked spaghetti--I used the wagon wheel pasta, which worked really well to scoop      the sauce 1/4 cup shredded Parmesan cheese Directions In a large saucepan coated with cooking spray, saute onion in oil until tender. Add garlic; cook 1 minute longer. Stir in the lentils, broth, pepper and cayenne. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 20-30 minutes or until lentils are tender. Stir in the tomatoes, tomato paste, vinegar, basil and oregano. Return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 40-45 minutes. Cook spaghetti/pasta according to package directions; drain. Serve with lentil sauce. Sprinkle with cheese. ...read more

Upcoming Events: Valentine's Day

Can you believe the first month of the year is already behind us? Maybe it's because I took my vacation in January, but that month sure flew by.In less than two weeks, Cupid will be making his appearance. I won't be available for appointments on Valentine's Day--the Blazers are playing and hubby got quarter season tickets, so that's where I'll be! I will, however, be more than happy to be a part of making your sweetie's day fantastic. You can purchase a gift certificate online through my website, over the phone, or set up a time to pick one up in person--whichever is easiest for you. I'd say that would be a wonderful gift to get on Valentine's Day! My schedule seems to be booking up more quickly lately. If you've normally booked your appointments one week at a time (car accident insurance clients...this is you!), or called looking for a same-day appointment, you'll find it's going to be much harder for me to get you in. Please try to have a few days/times in mind a week or two in advance that you think would work for you--I don't want to leave you hanging and not getting the care you need. I guess that's one negative side-effect of reaching a new level of success in my business!  ...read more

A Dose of Inspiration: Recharge

Ahh...taking an uneventful vacation is so nice!My husband had planned his vacation (paid, one of those perks of being an employee) for the second week in January. I was still undecided about whether I would also be taking that time off work. We didn't have any plans of doing anything special, he mostly was taking it ... to take it. As one of my very best regular clients was finishing his appointment with me, he was thinking of scheduling his next appointment within that week. As I explained my uncertainty of whether I would also be taking vacation, he urged me to do it, saying that the money (my vacations are not paid!) will always come, but you never get the time back to do things differently. That sold me. (And I'm so happy, the money did come, in the form of insurance payments I'd billed a few weeks prior.)We still didn't do anything special--really. My husband went to 2 Blazer games and his regular bowling league. But for me...it was so nice to not have to go and be somewhere. Many of you probably know that I'm beginning to itch to shift my work schedule once our youngest is in school, so that we can all be at school/at work at the same time, and all be home together--at the same time. Yes, I enjoy the flexibility of my career, and it has been tremendously helpful in avoiding daycare expenses, but it still comes with a toll of its own, and I'm ready to pay THAT debt off! ;) So that vacation was a wonderful way for me to recharge my batteries. Looking back, I realized my husband took his last vacation in July--but I did not. My last vacation was in February of 2011 when he and I took our first cruise together--SO awesome! That trip included my weekend workshop training to be a Certified Injury Prevention Instructor, and as soon as we landed back on the west coast, we were jolted back into the middle of buying our house. The cruise was fabulous, but the vacation ended quite abruptly.I feel restored. My theme for this year is "Embrace." I am ready to do just that. ...read more
