About Cannon Beach, OR
Cannon Beach is a part of the Clatsop County metro area of Oregon known for its rich history and scenic beaches. Major attractions include Haystack Rock and the Lewis and Clark National Historical Park. Each year in June there is the Annual Sand Castle Building contest. In 1806, the famous explorers Lewis and Clark, along with Sacagawea, explored and wrote about Cannon Beach. Clark also named Ecola Creek after a whale carcass they found beached in the area. One of the best places to visit when you are in Cannon Beach is Ecola State Park. Cannon Beach also boasts one of the country's most unique art communities.
