Dealing With Migraines and Headaches

Headaches are no fun, and migraines are another level of painful. Living with either of these issues can make you feel grumpy and in the worst-case scenario leave you unable to function. Medication can help in the short term but when the problem is ongoing, or re-occurring, pills are not enough. Oftentimes, the source of your headaches and migraines is structural, and therefore with proper treatment it is possible to permanently overcome this debilitating issue. Chiropractic treatment in Tulsa may help end your ongoing headaches and migraines, read on to understand how. Headaches and Migraines in Tulsa Whether you are dealing with a persistent throbbing in your head, or the worst symptoms associated with migraines, including light and noise intolerance, nausea, vomiting, hallucinations, depression and irritation the cause may be a structural issue. When the spine moves out of position because of developmental issues, trauma, repetitive stress and other incidents it can put pressure on the surrounding nerves. When the nerves are compressed or irritated they send a message to the muscles of the back, neck and jaw to tighten. This tightness can lead directly to an acute headache or migraine. Over time the tightness can also pull your bones out of alignment leading to more persistent headaches and migraines. A headache or migraine can be a sign that there are deeper problems arising in your spinal column, and because every other system in your body is impacted by your spinal health, it is very important to deal with these issues when the signs begin to arise. Chiropractic Treatment for Migraines and Headaches Chiropractic care has a long history of successfully treating headaches and migraines. Chiropractors have extensive understanding of subtle issues occurring in the spine which, due to its connection with the nervous system, is very often the source of pain. A chiropractic treatment starts with a thorough evaluation that will rule out other possible causes of your headache and examine your spine for issues of misalignment. The assessment will determine the exact type of treatment that is necessary for the specific issue at the root of the pain. Using gentle and non-invasive techniques a chiropractor is able to achieve adjustments to the spine that, although they may seem subtle, can provide almost instant relief and restore your long term health. ...read more

To fluoride or Not?

As I was watching, NBC’s Parks and Recreation, the other night the main topic was if they were going to put Fluoride in the water or not. The job of the city workers and council was to convince the citizens and other council this was okay. Much like what we go through in real life. Whether it’s Fluoride or Chloramines, or other additives that are in the water this is obviously a big enough topic that even producers of TV shows feel they need to poke fun at it. What is the deal though? Do these things need to be added to our water? I guess it depends who you ask.  The American Dental Association is a huge advocate on fluoride in your drinking water. It makes sense, if you are constantly drinking water with fluoride and exposing, your teeth to its benefits this is going to have a favorable response to cause less dental decay they even go as far as saying that a lifetime of having fluoride in your water can promote money savings compared to the cost of dental fillings. But, what does all that fluoride do to you ? According, to the EPA ”exposure to excessive consumption of fluoride over a lifetime may lead to increased likelihood of bone fractures in adults, and may result in effects on bone leading to pain and tenderness. Children aged 8 years and younger exposed to excessive amounts of fluoride have an increased chance of developing pits in the tooth enamel, along with a range of cosmetic effects to teeth.”     However, standards for monitoring are also placed for municipalities that choose to do fluoride. This means that the level or fluoride put into your water is deemed overall safe by the national guidelines.              Fluoride is defiantly a personal opinion if you are want to remove fluoride from your water Reverse Osmosis is the best way to do this. Our Reverse Osmosis machine by Pure Water Technology will remove fluoride ensuring the purest water for your next glass of water. Think water is boring? Try Sparkling!

It's the beginning of the year, you know that time where you tell yourself that you will do better at things; well I'm just as bad as  next person but in all honesty, for our health one of the easiest things, we can ALL do is have plenty of water intake. Even though its cold we may not realize it but, with most of us living in and working in places where central heat is involved we have all had the moisture sucked right out of us. Some how we must get that water back into our system. According to the Mayo Clinic the 8x8 rule is not stuck in stone but it's an easy number to remember and as a general rule good for most people according to weight and activity. But what does that water help your body do?  Keeps its temperature normal. Lubricates and cushions your joints. Protects your spinal cord and other sensitive tissues. Gets rid of wastes through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements and of course the big one helps weight loss. It's said that if you drink 2 glasses of water before each meal you will fill fuller and eat less. To me water is one of those things it's better when you get it served at a spa, or in a hotel lobby in one of those jars filled with fresh fruit or even a fancy machine where it comes out really cold. Often times, I just crave the carbonation of a pop but, I know how bad they are for me. Fortunately, these days, water machines now put out carbonated water, becoming sparkling water taking away water boredom! According to #TracyMiller, with the #NYDNheath drinking some sparkling water may add some fun to our water boredom, but be careful of what you add, adding to much items could have you equaling a pop. Tracy recommends adding mint leaves, cucumber, lemon or lime or other fruits. If your still not going for the fruit thing try your favorite sugar free Torani product or a crystal light. Arctic Falls offers the ION machine which offers a hot/cold and sparkling water setting for all your water needs ...read more
