We worked with BBAS in 2009 to complete the adoption of our daughter from Ukraine, and again in 2011 to complete the adoption of a newborn girl. The first adoption took about 9 months to complete, and the second took about 9 months until placement occured. We cannot say enough about how pleased we were with BBAS! All of the staff at BBAS were knowledgeable, respectful, understanding, and took the time to answer all of our questions no matter how big or small. We felt supported by them before, during and after each adoption. I would highly recommend this agency to anyone considering adoption domestically or internationally. ...read more

RELATIVE ADOPTION IS ON THE RISE

Are You Considering Adoption of A Relative?Across the United States, one of seven children are being raised in homes where grandparents or other relatives are the primary caretakers. Of these more than 5.8 million children are being raised by their grandparents and nearly 2 million children are living in other relatives’ homes.*It is not surprising then that the largest group of adoptive parents for domestic adoptions is the child’s relatives such as grandparents, aunts and uncles.Building Blocks Adoption Services, Inc. recognizes that large group of caretakers and has the resources needed to assist relatives with legalizing the parent to child relationship through the act of adoption. As in all adoptions, the process for an adoption must be strictly followed. Despite the existence of a blood relationship, the relative seeking to adopt the child must still obtain an Ohio Homestudy. In simple terms, the Homestudy is an assessment that the relative’s home is appropriate to raise a child. Our agency is able to assist those relatives with the required paperwork.Once the Home Study is complete, the child can be placed by the Court and the bonding period commences. If the Court requires supervision of the placement then Building Blocks can then analyze the relationship and prepare the reports needed by the court. The process of adoption can be an unwanted expense but there is relief. With an adoption, the new parents of the relative child may qualify for the adoption tax credits. This credit can be substantial and serves to offset the cost of the adoption. Once the adoption occurs, the relative becomes the legal parent charged with the responsibility to provide for the child’s needs and to guide the child securely through life.Building Blocks Adoption Service, Inc. is a full service adoption agency located in Medina, Ohio. Our agency is able to provide services to those seeking an adoption throughout the entire State of Ohio. For more information about adoption call 866-321-2367 or visit us online at www.bbas.orgBuilding Blocks Adoption Service, Inc.www.bbas.org ...read more
