In May, my Mother In Law fell and moved to Ohio. We have been struggling with her health as well as her failing memory. We reached out to many services and felt we were definitely over our heads. The Inn at Olentangy Trail was one facility that kept coming up over and over. We went for a visit and immediately felt both comfortable and impressed. \t\nOur experience has been that each member of the staff seems to make an extra effort to make each resident feel comfortable and welcomed. Each employee seemed to know her name immediately and made an effort to speak to her. She found this to be reassuring and eased this awful transition into a positive situation. Since her move, we have noticed that the encouraging words from staff seemed to help her find a social "circle" of friends. This is something she has not experienced in many years. Further, she never would participate in group activities. It is amazing to see her now participate in several of them. The staff seems to have even fostered this nurturing attitude to residents so they even look after each other. \t\nI would highly recommend to families to visit the location and make your own decision. For us, it was the right choice and we are thrilled. The state of the art monitoring system has the patient in mind, not the staff. The layout of the facility seems to have both the resident and their families in mind, not the staff. The quality of the building, furniture and the "bells and whistles" certainly captured our attention. \t\nWe make it a practice to be up to visit her at different times of the day/night several times a week. Although it certainly isn't necessary from a care stand point, it has given us continued insight into their protocols and policies. We probably will continue to be very involved with her care but with winter coming, it's comforting to know that if we can't make it up there on a snowy day, she will be well cared for as if we were there. ...read more
