I was a client of the Koffel Law Firm. I dealt with a good amount of people during my time as a client. From top to bottom, the Koffel Law Firm does everything possible to exceed your expectations. From top to bottom, they are experienced, friendly, and understanding of what the main goals are for their client. Even after my time as a client, if something is needed, I always get a prompt response if I need someone. Never had to wait long for whatever I needed to be resolved. If you are going through any legal problems, I would highly suggest dealing with the Koffel Law Firm, they are experienced, know what they are doing, and all around are great people across the board. ...read more

Will was absolutely amazing! I was referred to him by a friend and form the moment I walked into the office he made me feel much better about the whole situation. We went over whatI wanted out of the case and what my option where. He was respectful and kept me informed the whole time. Originally we thought my BAC was going to come back at roughly a .16 but upon my toxicology reports coming because my BAC was at almost a .21! this was a little nerve racking. Will still stood by my side and fought to get me the best possible deal. In the end I ended up being charged with physical control, had to take a 3 day class in a hotel, and got extremely broad driving privileges for me 6 month suspension. I would never go anywhere else then to Will and the whole team at Koffel Law Firm. absolutely amazing! ...read more

Tallmadge Man Faces Compound Penalties for Multiple DUI/OVI Charges

Kirt K. Strickler, a 50-year-old man from Portage County, has recently been charged with his sixth offense ofoperating a vehicle while intoxicated(OVI) since 1999. As a result, he has been sentenced to 120 days in jail—113 of which he has already served while awaiting trial—and his license has been suspended for five years. Due to his OVI charges, he could have been sentenced to as many as 18 months in prison. The basicpenaltiesfor a first-time OVI or DUI offense in Ohio include a maximum of six months in jail, fines up to $1,000, and a license reinstatement fee of $450. These charges only get worse with each subsequent OVI arrest, as can be seen in the case of Mr. Strickler. Along with his jail time and five-year license suspension, Strickler was also sentenced to five years’ probation and a fine of $1,500, withrestricted driving privilegesafter three years of hard time suspension for work, rehabilitation meetings, and probation appointments. He has also been required to get a full-time job and keep it throughout his probation. Had he obeyed the laws regarding drinking and driving, his life would not have been harmed in such a terrible and irreversible way. When faced with charges of OVI, you could be faced with harsh penalties, especially if you are a repeat offender. False accusations can be made, however, so be sure to get legal representation for your situation. Why Law?

I frequently get asked how I chose my profession. If you had asked me years ago, I would have said I thought it was a pretty lucrative deal. A few of my parent’s friends whom I admired were attorneys and I thought it was a noble professional. As I went through law school, my goals became more clear and my passion for becoming an attorney grew. I realized the most important thing that I would do in my profession would be to stand up for an unpopular cause. And when you specialize in criminal law — you generally face many unpopular causes. So that’s my answer now for when people ask why I am an attorney. Standing up for something unpopular seems to happen less and less frequently in our culture. Most people want to follow the majority one way or another, listen only to those who are in power and jump on the bandwagon. In that type of culture, who is speaking up for people that can’t speak for themselves? I want to be that person and minimize my clients’ risk. So much of what I do for my clients involves minimizing their risk. I try to think of myself as one who seeks to protect the interests of my clients as much as possible. We all work to have stability in our lives, but the real benefit of my job is helping others. ~Tom ...read more
