We had one of the engineers (Carl M.) inspect the house we are thinking of buying. I had no idea it would be that extensive! My husband has purchased homes several times before, and said it was the most thorough inspection he has ever seen. The inspector literally checked every outlet and light switch in the entire house, all the appliances, the seals on the windows and doors, climbed up on the roof, and crawled into every crawl space - even the ones with a tiny opening that was boarded over. We feel very certain that he found every issue there was to find! He was very professional and helpful, and explained everything that he was doing clearly to us along the way, as well as his findings. He summarized everything up for us at the end, and emailed us a very thorough written report with recommendations. The only reason we put 4 stars for "Total Experience" was that it took over 4 hours (we were expecting 3), and we were both very tired and hungry by the time we were able to get out of there! We had a tight time frame to complete our home inspection. The staff at Criterium-Liszkay were very responsive to our need and kept the communication going to make sure that we had our report on time. Don was our inspector and he was very thorough in going through the house we are buying. He answered a lot of questions for my technical handyman type husband. It's nice to work with someone in this market who understands risk and the real needs to addressed without being alarmist, expecting an older house to be perfect. He describes the work needed, understanding the much of the work will happen after the property changes hands. We knew just what we needed to ask for to finalize the purchase. We had an unique situation where we only wanted a structural engineer to look at certain parts of our basement to fulfill the requirements to sell our house. Don worked with us to include everything that we needed and was honest about how to proceed to get the most of out his services. Services were quick. Don came out within 24 hours of our initial contact and we received the full report the very next morning. Don worked with integrity, and displayed a great deal of knowledge about our 90 year old house. Next time we buy a house we will use Criterium-Liszkay Engineers to do the home inspection.
