Kristin/Kristen whatever the spelling of her name is was such a rude little snot and questioned over and over why I left a co. after being there for a long time and kept bringing it up in the interview (I left to pursue the same career but in a different field). When she asked where I saw myself in 5 yrs., I told her my goal was to stay long term w/a good company. Her response: oh, really, like the last one? (Yes). Lol, I don't think she believed anyone stayed in a job longer than a year b/c on her LinkedIn profile, she hasn't been anywhere longer than about 2 yrs. ...read more

Where to start? First of all, Kristen Nutini was rude and offensive. At the initial meeting with her she asked me why I left my previous position after 15 years, I told her I wanted a change and she said: oh moneyust be a factor for you. I told her that actually it wasn't and that I was looking to stay somewhere for quite a while. She tapped her pen and asked: "oh, really? 15 years?". I find that ironic coming from someone who hasn't worked anywhere longer than 2 years, according to her linked in profile . I am glad to say I found a great job on my own accord, I'll never go through another placement agency ever again. ...read more

FUSION: A Six Step Solution to Handling Conflict Across Generations

Conflict around work ethic and work methods are the primary sources of conflict in today's workplace, from small nonprofits to Fortune 500 corporations. Plus, there are many other sources of conflict ranging from work-life balance issues, loyalty, respect, career choices, technology capabilities or availabilities, dress code to name just a few. The conflicts themselves are the feeder but the impacts they can have on the workplace are more crucial - miscommunications, decrease in morale, increase in absenteeism, increase in turnover, loss of productivity, or loss of customers. We don't, however, have to accept conflict in the workplace and these potentially detrimental impacts as the norm. We would like to share six steps to ensure you can provide constructive, effective feedback that will maximize productivity and minimize conflict, regardless of the age of the person for whom you're providing the feedback. We've named our approach the FUSION Model:Focus on the issue at hand and key points related to that issue.Understand the other's perspective and point of view.Be Specific about what you think or want.Be Intentional about your expectations and how they support the organization.Be Open to options for handling disagreement. No "hot button" language such as "you always do this". Try to avoid using the "you" word and use more "I" if possible. We use this approach to heighten understanding and minimize the negative effects of peoples' response to potential conflict or what they view as unwarranted criticism. ...read more
