Morgan School of Driving

5.0

By sandyly at Yellowbook

I loved learning from the best. I took the 5 hour class, driving lessons, and the point insurance class from them. When I was ready to take my road test, I even used their car. The instructors made something that could have easily been boring, and very frustrating, and turned it into a fun experience. Morgan's is the reason I am a safe driver, which in turn, helps me save money on my car insurance. I've already sent many friends here to learn, and will continue to recommend them to anyone. ...read more

Great school! Instructors are knowledgeable and friendly. I did everything through them... Took my 5 hour class, driving lessons, used their car for my road test, and after I got my license, I took their point insurance reduction class to lower my insurance. I couldn't have chosen a better school for my needs. They've been in the business a long time and it shows. I would recommend Morgan's to anyone! ...read more

I'm so thankful to Morgan School of Driving for teaching me how to drive. The instructors teach more than just passing a road test; they teach you how to handle a car, use your judgement, and be safe while on the road. They were very patient with me and were able to be flexible around my busy schedule. Even after I passed the test, I went back for winter driving lessons for a refresher on how to drive in the snow. I would recommend this school to any family member or friend. And when I have kids, I'll make sure they learn how to drive the right way, by taking them back to Morgan's. ...read more

Rochester Academy of Music & Arts & Abbott’s host Disney Concert

On Friday September 19, the St. Paul Abbott’s will be filled with Disney Magic, as local music students gather to perform Disney songs in a special showcase event. The performers are attendees of the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts-- Western New York’s largest privately-owned music school. The Academy has partnered with Abbott’s, who will be hosting the event, featuring costumed characters, photo opportunities, frozen custard, and more. The showcase will take place at 6:30 pm, and is free and open to the public. Attendees are welcome to wear Disney-themed costumes to the event. Rochester, Please Be Our Guest The idea for a Disney-themed concert began with Academy teacher Katie Fisher. According to Fisher, “I was looking for something new and exciting to do with my students this summer, when I had the idea of utilizing the music of Disney. Summer is a time for fun, and Disney songs fit the bill, while still providing students the challenge of applying the fundamentals they’ve learned thus far.” When Academy events coordinator Brigid Harrigan heard Fisher’s idea, she decided to run with it, contacting Abbott’s and securing a venue. “I felt that Katie’s idea had the potential to be a wonderful event not just for the Academy, but for the Rochester community. We love supporting the arts, and Abbott’s was very excited to be able to showcase local talent.” A Whole New World, Where Education Meets Fun Because the Academy grows larger every summer, it was a unique challenge to find a theme that would fit an ever-increasing number of students. “Our reasoning behind the theme is pretty simple,” explains Harrigan. “Disney, much like music itself, is a kind of universal language. Students of all ages and backgrounds will be performing at the event. But no matter your age or upbringing, we all have a favorite Disney film.” Harrigan continues, “Students were encouraged to make their own song selections for the event—to choose the songs that really speak to them as individuals. At the Academy, we always encourage students to work with music they love, and this event is a perfect showcase for that philosophy.” About the Rochester Academy of Music & Arts The Rochester Academy of Music and Arts, located at 161 Norris Drive, is Rochester’s largest family-owned and family-oriented music school. In 2014, the Academy was the recipient of a national award for music school excellence. The Academy has been featured by many news outlets, including the Democrat & Chronicle, News10, In Good Health, City Newspaper, Freetime Magazine, and more. The Academy is highly active in the Rochester community-- performing on Frontier Field, hosting fundraisers for local charities, and supporting arts education. It was founded by Hungness in January of 2007, starting with only 14 students. In just seven years, it has grown into a major presence, boasting over 300 students, 20 teachers and an office staff. Wilhelmina Evolve Fashion Arts Studio Officially Opens

August 14, 2012marks the official opening of Wilhelmina Evolve! The official name Wilhelmina Evolve Fashion Arts Studio has the attention of  Wilhelmina International in possibly setting the standard for affiliate offices around the country. Director of Affiliates for Wilhelmina Tara Treachy indicated that Wilhelmina Evolve is not a “school” its a professional developmental studio that focuses on a set standard of talent that Wilhelmina Models has the privilege to watch develop with a strong desire to advance those candidates to the next level. Plans for the studio  include getting regular visits from the New York office so that developing talent will have the chance to be seen by some of the foremost agents in the business. Wilhelmina’s New York agents are looking for that next new face they can promote from model to supermodel to celebrity status. “Its a very exciting time for the entire organization to be able to offer a professional development program here in Upstate New York to aspiring models and actors with unprecedented access to a major agency like Wilhelmina,” said Director of New Faces, Melissa Herman. From the design of the studio and its amenities to what it promises current and future roster of models and talent, casting professionals and clients, the space is a luxurious amenity to the highly successful Wilhelmina Rochester agency. The space is a beautiful modern studio amid the classic architecture of an 1860 built home. Michael Cavalcanti – real estate developer who was one of the attendees at the opening of the studio said “this is a first-class project that anyone associated should be proud.” Envisioned and designed by Agency Director, Billy Powell he admittedly stated ” For a first time project of this magnitude I was a little intimidated but as the project progressed, I certainly got more confident in my abilities to actually deliver the vision I had about the studio.” Powell worked tirelessly in bringing together a functional artistic space that exemplifies fashion, acting studio, photography, styling, hair and make-up artistry. Powell is a 30 year veteran in the industry who knows talent and the work that it takes for success. I asked Billy what he thought was the number one ingredient for success in this industry and he replied, “focused determination…without it, you’re talents will fail you”. As for the launch party? A huge success! In attendance were journalists, fashion week organizers, models, actors, filmmakers, artists, fashion designers, photographers and real estate developers. Food, music and fashion adorned and from the looks of things, everyone had a great time. For that great time, Wilhelmina Rochester would like to thank some wonderful people for all their contributions and hard work in making our event a huge success. A VERY SPECIAL THANKS to: Edsel Patterson, Melissa Herman, Anne Strauch, Jessica Peak, Kiersten Shaffer, Kathy Powell, Pete Di Martino, Ira Morris, Karen Burnett, Ronnie Raimonde, Madison Leiker, Roy Richards, Elena Zweers, Danielle Lusardi, Mercedes Brien and Carly Strang.
