I had purchased a service contract and had regular fuel deliveries. The weather prevented a delivery and I knew I was almost out. I asked if there were something to be done and they sent up a technician with some fuel - $135 for ten gallons to be precise. The day of my fuel delivery arrived and I noticed my furnace making a terrible whining sound. Just as I went to check there was a knock on my door and the delivery man was leaving a receipt. I tried to start the furnace to no avail. When I phoned for help I was told that the furnace should never be running during a delivery. So, am I to turn off my heating system on the days my delivery is due in order to go to work? It was a fluke I was home, a fluke the furnace was on during delivery and sheer nonsense that I was told something like this.
