Keystone Tire & Auto Repair

5.0

By TomYoung

I was shocked at how I got gouged at Keystone. I was charged $112.23 x 8 = $897.84 for ignition coils (just for the parts not including labor). I asked increduously how they could be so much. Kevin's response was, "we use quality parts". I pulled out computer printouts of what the coils are going for retail, in many instances 1/4 of that price ... and his coy response was "I've been down this road before .." (I'll bet he has) "Prices are all over the place ... we use quality parts". The highest price anywhere that I was able to find was for Motorcraft (Original Equipment for my car) at Advance Auto for $69.99 which would have been $560 for all eight ... and I found many lower prices. I understand repair places mark up parts ... fine. But this kind of gouging is unethical and unconcionable. When I called Kevin in the morning, and he told me what the bill was likely to be, $1400 + tax, his voice trailed off and he hestitatied. Whatever. The total bill was $1519 to replace coils and plugs and a couple filters. UNBELIEVABLE. Keystones motto is "Down the Road from Higher Prices". Unless you're a gouge victim, I guess. STAY AWAY. I work hard for my money, and to get burned this bad really hurts. STAY AWAY. A copy of my bill and a printout of the highest prices for MOTORCRAFT coils I could find is here ... drive.google.com/file/d/… I'm not even sure he used Motorcraft ... I'm not sure what he put in there, it could have been one of the cheaper brands that you can get for no more than $250/for the whole set. The overall experience of asking basic questions of this man has been very bad. He acted like he was doing me a favor to tell me anything, and just flippantly danced around how he charged my double of the highest price I could find for OEM equipment. Shameless. ...read more
