SPAM emails from FedEx and UPS

We are seeing a rash of false emails to people that supposedly are alerting the recipient of a problem with a package delivery. Many of the emails are coming from an email address something like "postal-fedex".  Please be aware that the vast majority of these emails are entirely SPAM. FedEx and UPS don't contact customers by email except in special situations, and besides, if you shipped a package from PDQ Mail Plus, your email is NOT transmitted to the carriers. If we have your email - so we can send you the tracking #, that is used only by our internal system. We get the tracking information from the carriers, and send you an email, but the carriers don't have the email we are using.  This scam is just another method that hackers use to try to fool users, by finding a scenario that people are likely to respond to. Sometimes it comes from someone you know with a link to click on, but absolutely no personal message is included. Other similar email scams look like they come from eBay or Amazon, or other popular online companies. As a matter of fact, the true websites for these companies have a spot to report fraudulent "spoof" emails. So we encourage you to take any email that looks like it comes from FedEx or UPS with a grain of salt. Click on the details of the email. The official websites are www.fedex.com and www.ups.com. Any email that starts differently is bogus. Keep shipping, but be careful with the emails. ...read more

Prepaid Labels and Flat Rate Boxes

Online retailers seem to be bending over backwards to make it easy to send unwanted items back to them -often providing easy to use barcode labels - just slap it on the box and drop it off for return. What they don't always tell you - except in the fine print - is that they may be charging you for that easy return, and it's often between $6 and $10. Yes, there are some who offer free returns, but we ask you to read the fine print on the prepaid labels to see if they will be deducting a return shipping amount from your refund. If they are, give us a chance at PDQ to meet or beat that shipping charge - and usually we can beat it. When you pay us for the return shipping, we will stand by you to track the return, and our UPS and FedEx packages all have full tracking and we can insure it for the value of the items enclosed. Note that any returns via US Mail don't offer insurance at all, and many have only limited tracking abilities. The Post Office is having a big advertising campaign about their Flat Rate Boxes. "If it fits, it ships." It makes shipping easier. That it does. What it doesn't necessarily do is make shipping cheaper. The regular flat-rate box rate is based on a 4# shipment to Florida or the Midwest, or a 3# shipment to Denver. And the large flat-rate box is equal to a 9# box to carolina, a 5# to Texas, or a 3# to California. So if you are sending something fairly light, or less than 500 miles, you might be better with the regular rates than the flat-rate. Plus Priority Mail doesn't come with insurance or any en-route tracking; all they can tell you is if it was received or not - not what we've come to expect from UPS or FedEx. So give PDQ a chance to price your shipment. We have over 40 sizes of boxes in stock, and all the options from UPS, FedEx and US Mail for you to choose from. You just might end up saving money with a better class of service, and no long lines at the post office either. Our motto: "it will fit, and it will ship!" ...read more
