About Gardiner, NY
The town of Gardiner, named for Lt. Gov. Addison Gardiner, is located on the Walkill River in the Shawangunk Mountains in Ulster County, New York, in the Kingston metro area. Major attractions here are the 12.2-mile Wallkill Valley Rail Trail and the Tuthilltown Grist Mill, built in the late-18th century and the oldest, continuously-operated, water-powered gristmill in the state and listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The businesses in Gardiner include McMahon's Home Improvement and Cafe Mio. Sunshine Nursery School is located here. One of the best places to visit when you are in Gardiner is the 7,000-acre Mohonk Preserve, with carriage roads and trails for activities such as hiking, running, mountain biking, horseback riding and cross-country skiing.
