As a nail technician it is my opinion that nothing is better on your nail beds. As women we like to look pretty and so we put "pretty nails" on to make us feel better. As for what is better, I think both are good to work with. Gel you can change every time you go in but acrylic you are kind of stuck with whatever color is on until it is drilled off, or is taken off. After years of wearing nails, I do not like going without because my fingers hurt without something. I like both products and find that too many companies play on the health of your nails to get you to use their product. Gel tends to take a little bit longer than Acrylic and not everyone can wear gel. almost everyone can wear acrylic. Enough for today, if you have any questions always ask your nail tech to take you step by step with their product.
