My experience with the Open Water Class was terrible. The owner Don Stanger treated us disrespectfully and did not supply the paperwork we needed or asked for. It Ended up costing us more money to finish our certification somewhere else. ...read more

I took Don’s (AKA Underwater World) open water scuba class. His website says “ We have two formats available, a once a week course for 5 weeks or a twice a week course for 2 1/2 weeks We do not conduct a one weekend course for several reasons, but the most important one is you and your safety. If you're not comfortable you're not safe. It is just that simple ”On the contrary, we signed up with Don Stanger and UnderWater world and paid for a 5 week course. He tried to do it in just 3, was frustrated when it might take 4 and belligerent when we demanded our 5th lesson. “Okay, but Im not getting in the water!” He not only did not get in the water, Don Stanger left us alone in the pool. During the testing phase of the class Don Stanger berated PADI and continually told us the answers in the book were wrong. Don Stanger snapped and yelled and at one point held me and my tank underwater with his foot. The only reason we didn't walk out the very first day is he already had our money. Upon completing the class, Don Stanger failed to give us the proper paperwork to take our OW Cert in Florida. At the time of this writing he still refuses to provide us with a copy. The PADI instructors manual states that instructors are suppose to have students repeat skills and exercises. Don Stanger showed us skills only once and some WERE NEVER TAUGHT. I was not given answers to any of my questions about breathing, kicking or ear clearing. He would only mock me. I resorted to the university of Google to answer my questions. His fb page shows happy faces - don’t be fooled. We had a happy face pic too. Then he released his true, impatient, crabby powers on us. ...read more

2010 MW CBSC Division 1 Qualifier Meet

Congratulations to all of you that participated in last weekend's meet. Several of our younger swimmers participated in their first meet ever and I know I speak for the entire team when I say we couldn't have been prouder for them. There is something about the smile on the face of these youth when they exit the pool from that first event that is just amazing! All team members put forth outstanding effort and, as we've come to expect, nearly all beat their personal bests. You parents and other family members were once again outstanding and did a fantastic job representing the team. It is wonderful to have those that are closest to our athletes serve as such wonderful role-models of good sportsmanship and respect for others. Thanks also to those of you that volunteered to help the host team with the meet. I have no doubt it was very appreciated and we always encourage those of you that can help out to do so, whether we are the host or not. In addition to the excellent achievement noted above, we had a very large percentage of swimmers lead the lane in their events and had a fantastic number of Division 1 qualifying swims. With the championships just around the corner, we want to again express our gratitude to our entire family of team members, parents, grand-parents, siblings and others for continuing to play such an important and positive role in the lives of the fine young men and women that are MOST. ...read more
