This is one of the older companies in Wilmington, and I had one repair done with them in November that was fast and efficient. My experience today was the utter opposite, and the woman in the office, Elizabeth, was rude, short, and infuriating. I called around noon on Friday about repairing my salad line that lost temp, most likely this is a half hour job requiring a freon recharge. I spoke with Elizabeth and she took my number and asked if she could call back after she checked their calendar and I said no problem just need to get this done before the weekend. She called back fifteen minutes later and told me someone would be by in the late afternoon which was perfectly fine. She again called around 4:15 and said there was a delay and the technician was on his way, I again said no problem but asked if I would be charged overtime, $135 per hour, even though I booked my appointment earlier. She said it will be the regular rate and they'll be there in the next hour. An hour later at 5:30, I recieve a third phone call, on this call she seemed annoyed and asks if I still need them to come today, I inform her that I do, like I said, it needs to be done before the weekend. She tells me that another account just called and needs some work done tonight as well, and if I want the work done it'll be time and a half $135 instead of $90 an hour. I tell her this is unacceptable and she retorts that they can stop by Monday and get it done. I have 17 pieces of refrigeration at my restaurant and have used 6 different companies to service them over time, if she could have told me promptly on my first call instead of after all of them closed, I could have called another company and not been in this idiotic bind. We only recently discovered this store. We went once before to another one here in Wilmington and all they wanted to do was sell us a new vacuum. Ours was fixed at a very min. cost and quickly. When we went to pick it up I felt like we were dealing with family. Very kind ,honest people. I needed a fabric cleaner and they recommended one and now I use it on not only furniture but, my cloth vera bradley handbag and my cloth shoes and sandels. Thank You so much. Went to a "big box" store and asked what the difference was in a $350 washer and $400 washer, and the "salesman" told me "$50". At Island Appliance they knew what I was getting for $50 and I found out it was what I wanted. I didn't pay more, just got more for what I paid for. I wouldn't shop for a major appliance purchase anywhere else, and recommend everyone does the same!!! ...read more
The disappointment of a home appliance breaking can make you want to have it repaired as soon as possible. You can always take it to a professional, which can cost a lot of money. Or you can try fixing it yourself. ...read more
