Our family LOVES going to the Leaky Tiki whenever we're at OI. Love the ice cream and the karaoke! The ice cream is a little lighter tasting than some places, but I like it much better than the gooey heavy ice creams. And we love the entertainment at the karaoke stage! I would give this ice cream no star if that was an option. This is the second time I have had their poor ice cream, I always try a place twice. Both times were a disappointment. Its like they forgot the cream, and the flavor. Disgusting.The people were nice, they just don't know how to make ice cream. watery, flaky, you can actually feel the ice crystals....i will never recommend this to a tourist. i live here, and there are many other ice cream shops worth visiting. ...read more

My in-laws have a house in Oak Island that we frequent. The Leaky Tiki was a new shop to the island this year. My family visited the shop and really enjoyed it! The owner stated she had previously owned another shop down the street and moved to the new store in the spring. The name had changed and an ice cream parlor added. My family purchased many items from the store and loved the t-shirts! The t-shirts were all very large sizes and when I inquired about smaller sizes I was told they might be in a warehouse. I made several trips to Oak Island in the spring and would go in to check on the t-shirts and still no smaller sizes. I had inquired about ordering some for my family ( an order of approx. $150.00) and the owner was more than happy to tell me she would order them and call me when they came in. Well, that was May and it is now October and she never called. Guess she didn't need my money and her business may not survive with bad customer service like that! ...read more
