How to Make a Candy Bar Cake
Unlike a baked cake, a candy bar cake is more of an edible centerpiece than an actual cake. As its name implies, it is made entirely of wrapped candy bars. Because there is no baking or cooking involved it is a craft project that anyone, including children, can learn to make.
- Set a large Styrofoam round on top of a cake platter. The round should be slightly smaller than the flat portion of the stand. If you don't have a cake platter use a cardboard cutout that is the same size of the round.
- Hot glue a second Styrofoam round on top of the first one. This round can be smaller than the first one or the same size depending on how you want your finished cake to look.
- Glue the bottom round to the cardboard base if you are using that instead of a cake stand or platter.
- Open a package of wrapped candy bars. The bars that you use can be either regular size, miniature or a combination of both. Again, this depends on how you want the finished cake to look.
- Place a thin line of glue down the back of a candy bar. Place the bar vertically on the outside of the bottom Styrofoam round. Continue until you have covered the entire bottom portion of the round.
- Continue gluing and sticking the wrapped bars on the second round until the entire cake is completed.
- Open a package of loose candy and pour it in any gaps that might reveal the Styrofoam base.
- Add a decorative piece at the top of the cake. Choose something that reflects the occasion that you have created the candy bar centerpiece cake for. If you prefer, either glue candy bars across the top or use more loose candy to cover it.
