I always thought that LNRMC was a good quality place with a good reputation. I guess that was an assumption based on the area in general usually being more on the "upper end". I felt that working there would be great. I have healthcare experience going back to the early 1990's, with healthcare certifications to boot. So, I applied for a job with this place. I got an interview with the Central Billing Office's Assistant CBO Manager, DENNIS MONDZAK. I sat and talked with this guy for an hour, this was after driving about 40 min. to get there. He was super interested in all I had to say, explaining how my great experience and background would lay a great foundation to working for him as a Pre Arrival Coordinator. He told me the hours were 9-5:30. I explained to him that I have two children needing to be picked up each day by 6pm, and with the long commute until we could relocate, I would not be able to leave any later than 5pm. He told me to my face when I asked could I do an 8-5 schedule instead that that could definitely be workable and he would get back to me within two days. He felt like this could work, and he just had to run it by his HR dept. I sent him a thank you note as one should after an interview, being very polite about him taking his time to speak with me. I told him I was looking forward to working together and hearing about the schedule. Two days came and went. I sent him two polite emails to follow up, he would not answer. I called him on the third day and got voicemail of course, and he would not return my message I left on his voicemail. He just totally dropped me when I asked to come in earlier and leave at 5pm. Even if he found out that it couldn't be done, a professional and decent person would have written an email explaining that or returned a phone call. I drive an 80 min. round trip drive that day ,spent an hour with him, all while a bit sick with a cold, just to try to get this job. To this day, I never got a call, letter, or email. I was just simply dismissed. I hear too by these reviews that the care there sucks afterall. And for employees, I see it's no better. So, if you want to be a patient there, or God forbid work for them, rethink that decision!!! I think it happened for the best for me, this place in an unprofessional joke! ...read more

I came to the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center emergency room because I had taken too many Xanax because I had severe PMS symptoms and was in a manic phase. The amount of Xanax that I took was not enough to die, or have severe health problems but I decided that I should go to the emergency room as a precaution. \t\n\t\nUpon my arrival, I became sleepy and do not remember anything until the next morning. I was told that while I was under the influence of the Xanax that I said "my family is better off without me." I do not remember saying this. It is highly unusual that I should be interviewed by a mental health professional while I was mostly asleep and in an altered state. The mental health professional was from New River Behavioral Health Care, Statesville. He had no medical degree, did not know me, had no access to my health records, and he interviewed me while I was semi-unconscious, and he did not allow my husband to be present during the interview. He diagnosed me as a depressive, when in fact I was in a manic phase, one does not take a depressant to alleviate depression, one takes Xanax to alleviate anxiety that comes from a manic phase. This "professional" is inept and unqualified to make medical decisions.\t\n\t\nThe statements that I was accused of making, while under the influence, should not be considered valid. This "professional" claimed I was suicidal, which I was not, even my psychiatrist and husband knew I was not suicidal because I told them immediately after I took some extra Xanax to alleviate my stress symptoms. I should have been reinterviewed the next morning when I became when all of the medication had cleared out of my system and when I became lucid. I do not believe in suicide because of my Christian beliefs but no one would listen to me.\t\n\t\nA nurse at this hospital was extremely nasty to me, she lied to both my husband and I, locked my clothes up, and held me against my will. I had to tell the hospital employees to keep away from me because they were becoming hostile toward me. \t\n\t\nBecause of the decision of the New River mental health professional, I then was told that I was going to be taken to a psychiatric ward in Davis Medical Center in Statesville against my will. The cops were called and I was escorted out of the hospital by a sherrif's deputy and taken by police car to Davis. This was a shock to me since I never have been arrested and I do not have a criminal record, but I was treated like a criminal. I cried all the way to the hospital. \t\n\t\nWhile at Davis I was exposed to extremely poor hygiene by staff and patients, I was put in a room with a person who had breathing problems and snored loudly, so I could not sleep at all. I was forced to intermingle with patients who had severe mental disorders where my life could have been in danger. I was improperly touched by a women who was a sexual aggressor. Also, I was forced to mingle with people with criminal pasts. \t\n\t\nI was taken to Davis psych ward because I was supposedly "suicidal", however no one checked on me for over 12 hours. It took almost one day to see a psychiatrist. I already had an appointment with my own psychiatrist the next morning but they decided to kidnap me and take me to a place where I received no psychiatric care.\t\n\t\nHow would you feel, while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you said something you did not mean and then someone arrested you without a trial? Seems like the patients are running the clinic at this hospital.\t\n\t\nThis event has scarred me for life and I feel that I can trust no one. I went to a hospital for help and then I was incarcerated. If I wasn't suicidal before the incident, I could have certainly been suicidal after my forced imprisonment.\t\n\t\nI have contacted an attorney. The attorney stated to my husband that Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has a long history of "kidnapping" patients and transporting them psych wards, as well as poor attitudes from staff and poor care. \t\n\t\n.\t\n\t\n\t\n ...read more

MY AUNT WAS BROUGHT INTO LNRM JANUARY 6 WITH A BLOOD SUGAR LEVER OF 41. SHE WAS THEN ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. HAD FAMILY MEMBERS NOT BEEN WITH HER SHE COULD HAVE DIED 4 DIFFERENT TIMES BECAUSE SHE KEPT GOING INTO DIABETIC SHOCK. THE FLOOR (2ND NEW WING) WAS UNDERSTAFFED AND THE STAFFING NEVER GOT ANY BETTER. THE NURSES WERE GOOD BUT THE HOSPITAL HAS A STAFFING PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THEIR CEO THAT THE NATIONAL GRID IS 1 NURSE TO EVERY 6 ROOMS. THAT MIGHT BE OK IF YOU DO NO HAVE ANYONE THAT IS REALLY SICK, THAT PARTICULAR DAY 2 OTHER PEOPLE WERE BROUGHT TO THAT FLOOR THAT WAS VERY SICK AND NEEDED AS MUCH CARE AS MY AUNT. SHE LEFT THE HOSPITL ON THE 11TH. THEN ON JANUARY 27TH SHE HAD TO RETURN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER HAVING A STROKE. SHE WENT INTO THE ER ARRIVING AT 6:45 BUT WAS NEVER TAKED TO A ROOM UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 9:45 AT WHICH TIME WE LEARNED THAT HER CLOTHS HAD BEEN "LOST". TO DATE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND. SHE WAS TAKEN TO 2ND FLOOR OLD WING AND HAD GREAT NURSES. BUT THERE AGAIN THEY ARE TOTALLY OVERWORKED. ON SATURDAY SHE WAS DISCHARGED AT 3:00PM. NUCARE WAS SUPPOSE TO PICK HER UP AT 5:00 TO TAKE HER BACK TO THE NURSING HOME. THEY ARRIVED AT 9:30PM SAYING THAT THEY HAD HAD AN EMERGENCY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT EMERGENCY COULD HAVE LASTED 41/2 HOURS. BECAUSE SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO ARRIVE AT THE NUSING FACILITY AT 5:00PM SHE WAS NOT FED ANYTHING AT LNRM UNTIL I STARTED CALLING TO SEE WHY SHE HAD NOT ARRIVED AT THE NURSING HOME. IN TALKING WITH THE HOPITAL CONCERNING THE LAG OF TIME IN PICKING HER UP THEY DID NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. IT WAS ALL NUCARE'S FAULT BUT MY RESPONSE IS IF YOU CONTRACT SOMEONE TO DO A SERVICE FOR YOU YOU SHOULD AT LEAST FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT IT TOOK 41/2 HOURS TO PICK UP A LADY THAT COULD NOT SEE, PARALYZED ON HER RIGHT SIDE AND VERY WEAK. SOMEONE HAD NO CONSIDERATION. I WAS TOLD BY THE HOSPITAL THAT NUCARE TRANSPORATION ONLY HAD ONE TRUCK RUNNING ON THE WEEKEND. ARE THERE NOT ANY OTHER SERVICES THAT HELPS PEOPLE TO BE TRANSPORTED? I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE STAFFING PROBLEMS THEY SEEM TO HAVE. THEY HAVE GREAT NURSES BUT OVERWORKED NURSES AND THAT IS A SITUATION THAT IS NOT GOOD WHEN YOU HAVE SICK PEOPLE. ...read more
