I always thought that LNRMC was a good quality place with a good reputation. I guess that was an assumption based on the area in general usually being more on the "upper end". I felt that working there would be great. I have healthcare experience going back to the early 1990's, with healthcare certifications to boot. So, I applied for a job with this place. I got an interview with the Central Billing Office's Assistant CBO Manager, DENNIS MONDZAK. I sat and talked with this guy for an hour, this was after driving about 40 min. to get there. He was super interested in all I had to say, explaining how my great experience and background would lay a great foundation to working for him as a Pre Arrival Coordinator. He told me the hours were 9-5:30. I explained to him that I have two children needing to be picked up each day by 6pm, and with the long commute until we could relocate, I would not be able to leave any later than 5pm. He told me to my face when I asked could I do an 8-5 schedule instead that that could definitely be workable and he would get back to me within two days. He felt like this could work, and he just had to run it by his HR dept. I sent him a thank you note as one should after an interview, being very polite about him taking his time to speak with me. I told him I was looking forward to working together and hearing about the schedule. Two days came and went. I sent him two polite emails to follow up, he would not answer. I called him on the third day and got voicemail of course, and he would not return my message I left on his voicemail. He just totally dropped me when I asked to come in earlier and leave at 5pm. Even if he found out that it couldn't be done, a professional and decent person would have written an email explaining that or returned a phone call. I drive an 80 min. round trip drive that day ,spent an hour with him, all while a bit sick with a cold, just to try to get this job. To this day, I never got a call, letter, or email. I was just simply dismissed. I hear too by these reviews that the care there sucks afterall. And for employees, I see it's no better. So, if you want to be a patient there, or God forbid work for them, rethink that decision!!! I think it happened for the best for me, this place in an unprofessional joke! ...read more

I came to the Lake Norman Regional Medical Center emergency room because I had taken too many Xanax because I had severe PMS symptoms and was in a manic phase. The amount of Xanax that I took was not enough to die, or have severe health problems but I decided that I should go to the emergency room as a precaution. \t\n\t\nUpon my arrival, I became sleepy and do not remember anything until the next morning. I was told that while I was under the influence of the Xanax that I said "my family is better off without me." I do not remember saying this. It is highly unusual that I should be interviewed by a mental health professional while I was mostly asleep and in an altered state. The mental health professional was from New River Behavioral Health Care, Statesville. He had no medical degree, did not know me, had no access to my health records, and he interviewed me while I was semi-unconscious, and he did not allow my husband to be present during the interview. He diagnosed me as a depressive, when in fact I was in a manic phase, one does not take a depressant to alleviate depression, one takes Xanax to alleviate anxiety that comes from a manic phase. This "professional" is inept and unqualified to make medical decisions.\t\n\t\nThe statements that I was accused of making, while under the influence, should not be considered valid. This "professional" claimed I was suicidal, which I was not, even my psychiatrist and husband knew I was not suicidal because I told them immediately after I took some extra Xanax to alleviate my stress symptoms. I should have been reinterviewed the next morning when I became when all of the medication had cleared out of my system and when I became lucid. I do not believe in suicide because of my Christian beliefs but no one would listen to me.\t\n\t\nA nurse at this hospital was extremely nasty to me, she lied to both my husband and I, locked my clothes up, and held me against my will. I had to tell the hospital employees to keep away from me because they were becoming hostile toward me. \t\n\t\nBecause of the decision of the New River mental health professional, I then was told that I was going to be taken to a psychiatric ward in Davis Medical Center in Statesville against my will. The cops were called and I was escorted out of the hospital by a sherrif's deputy and taken by police car to Davis. This was a shock to me since I never have been arrested and I do not have a criminal record, but I was treated like a criminal. I cried all the way to the hospital. \t\n\t\nWhile at Davis I was exposed to extremely poor hygiene by staff and patients, I was put in a room with a person who had breathing problems and snored loudly, so I could not sleep at all. I was forced to intermingle with patients who had severe mental disorders where my life could have been in danger. I was improperly touched by a women who was a sexual aggressor. Also, I was forced to mingle with people with criminal pasts. \t\n\t\nI was taken to Davis psych ward because I was supposedly "suicidal", however no one checked on me for over 12 hours. It took almost one day to see a psychiatrist. I already had an appointment with my own psychiatrist the next morning but they decided to kidnap me and take me to a place where I received no psychiatric care.\t\n\t\nHow would you feel, while under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you said something you did not mean and then someone arrested you without a trial? Seems like the patients are running the clinic at this hospital.\t\n\t\nThis event has scarred me for life and I feel that I can trust no one. I went to a hospital for help and then I was incarcerated. If I wasn't suicidal before the incident, I could have certainly been suicidal after my forced imprisonment.\t\n\t\nI have contacted an attorney. The attorney stated to my husband that Lake Norman Regional Medical Center has a long history of "kidnapping" patients and transporting them psych wards, as well as poor attitudes from staff and poor care. \t\n\t\n.\t\n\t\n\t\n ...read more

MY AUNT WAS BROUGHT INTO LNRM JANUARY 6 WITH A BLOOD SUGAR LEVER OF 41. SHE WAS THEN ADMITTED TO THE HOSPITAL. HAD FAMILY MEMBERS NOT BEEN WITH HER SHE COULD HAVE DIED 4 DIFFERENT TIMES BECAUSE SHE KEPT GOING INTO DIABETIC SHOCK. THE FLOOR (2ND NEW WING) WAS UNDERSTAFFED AND THE STAFFING NEVER GOT ANY BETTER. THE NURSES WERE GOOD BUT THE HOSPITAL HAS A STAFFING PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD BY THEIR CEO THAT THE NATIONAL GRID IS 1 NURSE TO EVERY 6 ROOMS. THAT MIGHT BE OK IF YOU DO NO HAVE ANYONE THAT IS REALLY SICK, THAT PARTICULAR DAY 2 OTHER PEOPLE WERE BROUGHT TO THAT FLOOR THAT WAS VERY SICK AND NEEDED AS MUCH CARE AS MY AUNT. SHE LEFT THE HOSPITL ON THE 11TH. THEN ON JANUARY 27TH SHE HAD TO RETURN TO THE HOSPITAL AFTER HAVING A STROKE. SHE WENT INTO THE ER ARRIVING AT 6:45 BUT WAS NEVER TAKED TO A ROOM UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 9:45 AT WHICH TIME WE LEARNED THAT HER CLOTHS HAD BEEN "LOST". TO DATE THEY HAVE NOT BEEN FOUND. SHE WAS TAKEN TO 2ND FLOOR OLD WING AND HAD GREAT NURSES. BUT THERE AGAIN THEY ARE TOTALLY OVERWORKED. ON SATURDAY SHE WAS DISCHARGED AT 3:00PM. NUCARE WAS SUPPOSE TO PICK HER UP AT 5:00 TO TAKE HER BACK TO THE NURSING HOME. THEY ARRIVED AT 9:30PM SAYING THAT THEY HAD HAD AN EMERGENCY. I AM NOT SURE WHAT EMERGENCY COULD HAVE LASTED 41/2 HOURS. BECAUSE SHE WAS SUPPOSE TO ARRIVE AT THE NUSING FACILITY AT 5:00PM SHE WAS NOT FED ANYTHING AT LNRM UNTIL I STARTED CALLING TO SEE WHY SHE HAD NOT ARRIVED AT THE NURSING HOME. IN TALKING WITH THE HOPITAL CONCERNING THE LAG OF TIME IN PICKING HER UP THEY DID NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY. IT WAS ALL NUCARE'S FAULT BUT MY RESPONSE IS IF YOU CONTRACT SOMEONE TO DO A SERVICE FOR YOU YOU SHOULD AT LEAST FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS THAT IT TOOK 41/2 HOURS TO PICK UP A LADY THAT COULD NOT SEE, PARALYZED ON HER RIGHT SIDE AND VERY WEAK. SOMEONE HAD NO CONSIDERATION. I WAS TOLD BY THE HOSPITAL THAT NUCARE TRANSPORATION ONLY HAD ONE TRUCK RUNNING ON THE WEEKEND. ARE THERE NOT ANY OTHER SERVICES THAT HELPS PEOPLE TO BE TRANSPORTED? I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH THE STAFFING PROBLEMS THEY SEEM TO HAVE. THEY HAVE GREAT NURSES BUT OVERWORKED NURSES AND THAT IS A SITUATION THAT IS NOT GOOD WHEN YOU HAVE SICK PEOPLE. ...read more

first of all i want to begin by saying i understand that an er is worst cases served first.when i ariived at lnrm i could barely walk in due to severe back pain.my husband was practically carrying me. there was a woman at the desk who just watched us with no offer of getting a wheelchair.there were only 2 other people in the waiting room.i arrived at 8:45.we went and did the routine blood pressure temperature pain scale thing and i told the lady my pain on a scale of 1 to 10 was past 10...undescribeable.we waited until 10:00 am to get to a room where they took my insurance(medicaid) and said the doctor would be in soon.he finally arrived about 11:15,checked my breathing and said he would send someone in with pain medication and order an mri.no one came until at 12:00pm i pushed the call button and asked for pain relief.by this time im in tears from pain and humiliation from being treated as a lesser person. a nurse comes in with my discharge papers and a scipt for tramadol which makes me sick to my stomach.as i told her this she snipped""i thought you werent allergic to anything""im not allergic. nausea is a side affect not an allergic reaction.something she should know.i asked her what happened to the mri i was supposed to get?she looked lost like she had no idea what i was talking about.by this time i was so angry from being in pain i went off.i threw the papers across the room and told her to forget it.i got dressed with the help of my husband and struggled walking out.again no offer of a wheelchair.my husband went into the waiting room as we went out and told everyone in it of my disgusting experience and wished them all luck with the incompetency they were about to face.one woman waiting was actually moved to tears for me.this is not the first time ive been a direct victim of this nor witness of it.again i stress that i know there are bad cases that come in and i dont want or expect to have a red carpet rolled out for me.i could have waited all day if i only got some relief of my horrific, crippling pain.i am sick to my stomach that this goes on so much in this place and no one is holding them to any standards.ona ahappier note i proceeded to presbyterian hospital in huntersville and i cannot praise them enough.they went above and beyond anything i could have ever hoped for.they not only had efficiency and speed but most important they had compassion and actually listened and responded to my needs without feeling like i was a burden.they relieved my pain and were very thorough in there explanations and referals to specialists.i dont know there names but whoever was on duty that morning at presbyterian(dec. 7th)God bless you everyday and thank you. i will NEVER grace the doors of lake norman regional again.neither will my family.something needs to be done .hopefully before anyone gets hurt or dies.might be a good idea to up there malpractice insurance. ...read more

my name is david belflower and this is my story. on the 7th of december 2010 i awoke to my wife screaming in pain with her back .i immediately picked my wife and her belongings up and headed out the door to the hospital. up on arriving at the hospital i was faced with the task of getting this very sick woman into the er. no one even cared that this woman could barely walk. and this was very visible to all who were attending at the time. up on checking in with the receptionest we were made to wait in the lobby till 10 am. we arrived at 9 am.once we finaly were tooken to the back it was 11 am.before any one came to see us. remember my wife is in so much pain that all she can do is cry. no one has offered any pain medication AT ALL, not even an aspirin. its well after 11 am now and a doctor( if thats what you would call him),comes through the door spends about 30 seconds with my wife tells her he is going to give her a mri and disappears. well its almost 12 pm and im done with this insanity. i called for the nurse, she brings a prescription that my wife cant take and tells us we are being discharged what happened to the MRI. the nurse had no clue of what the others were supposed to be doing i ask you the general public will you bring your loved ones to this place. i hope the answer is never. incompetence is running to unimaginable heights in this hospital. i just about had to carry my wife back though the waiting room of this place.on my way out i seen a young lady start to cry as she looked upon my wife . people need to be fired for this and i am looking into action further more. i took my wife ten miles down the road to another hospital.and this time i had to carry her in. the docters at this hospital were on there game. they had her in a room in less than three minutes.thank you from the bottom of my heart huntersvile and shame on the so called staff at lake norman, remember that oath you all took as doctors and nurses to help the sick NO MATTER WHAT ...read more

I saw a woman come in to the er with a allergic reaction to ant bites, she was ignored for a few miniutes and then told it would be a few minutes before they got to her. This lady could have had her airway close up in any given second.I am a paramedic so I know the importance of getting some medical help immediately for this lady. This incident unnerved me so bad that I left and went elsewhere to get my medical attention.I will never go back to this hospital-never. ...read more

hey, I am from northern usa family member admitted .. very ill..after one week of no diagnosis no tests, I had to remove 2 doctors , which in this hospital is a problem as they use ""hospitalists"" so if you have your own doc thats great.. but... the nursing staff will be over run and your on your own laziness, no communications.. but if you do complain and go to the administrator he will listen and if you do not have a medical license will smile and condensend you in a nice souhern way of course and deny anything.. though i hear the job is up for grabs , maybe a new guy will ge it i have never seen a hospital with communication problems between doctors and nursing so poor i was simply in awe at the lack of care.. after 2 weeks i found 3 other persons in this hospital removing thier loved ones because of the same reasons . poor care poor physicians .. and not all the hospitalists that are there when you arrive are board certified.. my suggestion go to presbyterian or charlotte do not go here you will not get better , unless you get lucky and get good staff I would'nt want to roll the dice on that one ...read more
