Bed Bath & Beyond

I first visited the Cary location to complete my bridal registry after heading to the Durham location and being ignored completely. \t\n\t\nI initially met with Stacy who was very helpful and professional. We first had to deal with a return of some Denby we had purchased from the Bed Bath and beyond in Tukwila, WA. The set was discontinued while we were only halfway though getting all of our pieces and I was really disappointed. The ladies in bridal were more than accomodating and issued us a credit to put toward our new bridal registry china patterns. We were very pleased with their customer service and decided to proceed with our bridal registration. We have a small guest list, but we need a lot of items. So really we were going to have to purchase most of the items ourselves, and within the past 2-3 weeks I have spent approximately 4800.00 dollars at the Cary, Fayetteville, and Durham locations, and I still needed to purchase quite a bit more.\t\n\t\nWhen I visited the store today, I had happened to find two more Denby plates hiding in my pantry. I brought them in to add them to the open stock I had initially returned (the first return had occurred about two weeks ago). As I was being checked out a man approached us and butted into the transaction (I was later told was named Gary and that he was the general manager). His first words were "I'm not taking that without a receipt". I explained that I had recently returned the exact same set to this exact same location less than two weeks prior without issue and that I had accidentally left these behind. It probably amounted to a 50.00 dollar store credit to accept them and add them to the other Denby set. Instead of being accomodating, however, he was rude. He rolled his eyes and again stated he wouldn't take them without a receipt. It's my understanding that store credits can still be issued without receipts, as I hadn't saved the original since some time had passed. I explained to him that the entire set was returned to their store without a receipt less than two weeks ago, so I didn't understand why they wouldn't simply add these to the others. His replay was "policies change" and he basically turned and walked away from me. Not having anything else to do with the two dishes, I simply left them at the store for them to add to the previously returned set.\t\n\t\nFirst of all, a manager should take the time with customers and, even if they can't give the customer what they desire, be polite about it. Secondly, when we are pumping the money we have into Bed Bath and Beyond (THOUSANDS), I would expect them to want to keep our business. At this point, I am so frustrated with the way I've been treated both at Durham and now Cary, I'm contemplating making a 4000.00 return, cancelling my registry, and heading to Macy's. I'd much rather invest my money into a store that treats their customers with respect.\t\n\t\nEven the cashier later commented about how rude and sarcastic he is and encouranged me to complain about him. So apparently my feelings about his professionalism are warranted. It's really a shame that your management is so rude considering how wonderful your bridal staff has been throughout this process.\t\n\t\nCarissa Everhart ...read more
