By Poetry For The Soul

Thank you for doing business with honesty and integrity. . A poem... SKIN DEEP Some people say that beauty… Is only as deep as the skin. When thinking of true beauty… I think it’s found within. It is true that there is beauty… That is pleasing to the eyes. Though through the years that beauty fades… And it’s amazing how time flies. If we live to be a ripe old age… Our youthful looks will start to cease. But the beauty that’s inside of us… Has the potential to increase. So when we think of beauty… Let’s use a phrase from days of old. Our eyes they can deceive us… And all that glitters is not gold. Robert. A. Multigenerational living

Living with multiple generations in one household can be challenging, especially when everyone is so active. After almost 4 years, we seem to be running along like a well oiled machine. It doesn't take much, however, to throw a wrench in the cogs. Anytime any member is sick or otherwise unavailable, it can seem overwhelming to rebalance the load, redistribute basic responsibilites, and keep everyone else productive. This has been the challenge at our house for the past week. The major breadwinner had surgery. Not just a quick clip and run, either... major surgery, requiring rehab and time in the step-down unit. This has effectively removed two of the three responsible adults from the mix, since the spouse of the patient ahs also been absent - staying at the hospital many hours every day. How do you manage major scheduling issues like these? ...read more

Community

My business is a big part of my life, and it's good to give back. Every year we donate hours to numerous charitable organizations, including La Leche League. Also, we're very active at our local church, providing volunteer time and attending meetings. With a local business, it's important to not just serve the community, you should be part of the community as well! ...read more

Lice, Lice and more lice

I don't know if it's global warming, pesticide resistance, or stray radiation augmentation, but the state of Mississippi seems to be over-run with head lice. I don't recall EVER havibng head lice as a child, but then I grew up in Georgia..... I am so completely tired of treating my children for head lice I could scream. If it were a publicly traded company I would buy stock in Heartland Products, Inc. the manufacturers of Lice Arrest, a non-toxic lice solution that works wonders. I may as well own stock, I purchase enough of it. But it is botanical, non-toxic and safe to use frequently. If we relied on those permethrin based products we would be so overly toxic that my kids may ahve grown second heads by now, and think of how much fun the lice could have then :) What are your thoughts? Do see more head lice now? Do you find head lice have run free in your schools, camps, churches, yards? What are your treatments of choice? Time to rinse, Laura ...read more
