Complimentary Locks of Love haircuts.

Here at Napoli we are committed to helping people create self confidence and a positive image about themself. This is whe we offer complimentary haircuts to individuals who are looking to donate their hair to the Locks of Love program. WHAT IS LOCKS OF LOVE? Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers. Q.What is the minimum length for a hair donation?A.At least 10 inches is needed to be used in a hairpiece. Q.Why is the minimum length 10 inches?A.The manufacturing process uses up to two inches, leaving only eight inches (jaw length). Most of the children who receive hairpieces from Locks of Love are little girls, and most want long hair. When we need to provide a hairpiece to a boy, we use some of the shorter lengths that have been separated by hand from each donated ponytail. Q.Does Locks of Love sell hair? Throw away hair?A.Hair that is short, gray, or otherwise unusable will be sold to help offset manufacturing costs. Locks of Love DOES NOT throw hair away unless it is wet and moldy or not bundled in a braid or ponytail when it is received. Q.Can I donate gray hair?A.Yes, we can accept donations of gray hair. Because we only provide hairpieces to children, we cannot use this hair in a hairpiece but will sell it to offset our manufacturing costs. Q.Can I donate colored hair?A.Yes, we can accept donations of colored hair. Q.Can I donate permed hair?A.Yes, we can accept donations of permed hair. Q.Can I donate bleached hair?A.No, we cannot use bleached hair. The bleach causes the hair to dissolve as it goes through the manufacturing process.Note:Many times highlights are done with bleach. Q.Can I donate dreadlocks?A.We cannot accept dreadlocks. Our manufacturer is not able to use them in our children’s hairpieces. We also cannot accept wigs, falls, hair extensions or synthetic hair. Q.How many ponytails does it take to make one hairpiece?A.Six to 10 donated ponytails go into one hairpiece.     ...read more

VooDoo and Fire and Ice at Harrahs Casino

Fire and Ice", Napoli Design Salon/Human Art demonstrated that they were just getting started. On SundayAugust 31st the team descended on the VooDoo Lounge at Harrah's Casino topresent "Fire and Ice" a body paint fashion show. The VooDoo Lounge Stage wastransformed into a lighted-staircase runway descending from above the bar downto the floor. Flanking the sides of the runway were scarves where localaerialists performed suspended an additional twenty-five feet above the stage.More than a runway show, the models were in character and put on a great show. The night began with limber gymnast Roxy as "Ice". Painted blue accented withmirror shards, her graceful entrance truly froze the audience. At the top ofthe stairs, appeared Chelsea Dawn as "Gargoyle". Painted head to toe in deepred complete with wings and horns, she commanded the stage. Only when shereaches the bottom can you see that the design on her torso is made of eyes."Arctic Butterfly" shone as she floated down the runway. Painted in blue andsilver luster with intricate patterns of blue and silver mirrored mosaics, heriridescent wings fluttered. Articia Ice Princess was painted into her blueand silver strapless, asymmetrical dress with glitter "beading" at the bodice.Several layers of lightweight fabrics attatched at the back kept the flow andfeel of the asymmetric lines of the dress. Anastacia Ice Princess appearednext painted in an off the shoulder light blue with mirrored mosaic edges. Adramatic bustle and flowing sleeve completed her regal look. The FirePrincesses drew inspiration from Moulin Rouge. Amanda was "wearing" an orangeand red wrap around dress finished with ruffled accents. April appeared in adramatic off the shoulder thigh-skimming red painted frock. Gold sparkle onthe bust and orange and red silk flame fringe brought heat to an already hotlook. Dancer Alana as "Fire" was the final model to appear. She was paintedin fluorescent flames. The glow in the dark flames danced the way fire shouldas she made her way down the runway. The models remained out for severaltracks spun by DJ Chili-C who provided music for the night. The event was a huge success receiving rave reviews and accolades all night.Jessica Dana of Human Art and John Napoli and Dason Van Oppen of Napoli DesignSalon were resposible for the nights imaginative creations. Stay tuned formore from this group as they continue to join forces to take this art form anew level. Photographers were on hand from Alive Magazine, Riverfront Times, and various freelance agencies.
