The Goddard School

I had a very disappointing series of interactions with the Goddard School in Rock Hill. When I toured the facility and paid the $100 registration deposit they require to be placed on their wait list, I was told the wait list time for my child would be approximately 15 months. Based on that information, I paid the $100 registration fee. After 16 months, I tried contacting the Goddard School regarding the situation. After two attempts to contact the owner, she stopped returning my calls. After 20 months on the wait list, the staff called me to confirm my interest in the school. At that time I was able to speak with the owner who gave me all the reasons she charges a deposit, but would not take responsibility for her staff giving me a wildly inaccurate estimate for their wait list time. I feel that their registration wait list estimates are a misleading way for them to take your money. I can not speak to the quality of the teachers, but I would not trust my child to such an uncooperative staff. I recommend the KinderCare in Kirkwood. Kirkwood KinderCare as a much easier to work with organization and has high quality teachers. ...read more

Thank you for your feedback. Certainly we all have bad days and due to a family emergency, I couldn't stay on the phone with you. When you called, my mother was being taken to the hospital by ambulance, and I was trying to leave to meet her there. I’ve been tied up with her health issues for two months, and she died on June 23. On my phone call with you, I was not as professional as I've always been in my 18 years of business with no complaints. I sincerely apologize for the tone of our interaction. ...read more

I never usually write comments but I cannot believe what just happened that I had no choice but to voice it. I have never dealt with someone so horrendous. I had just moved to St Louis due to my husbands army relocation and had gotten a gift certificate from my sister for Kindermusik Academy for $125. All of the classes however are months long and we were only living in STL for 1 year and throughout the duration we were travelling for months at a time to other states because of Army demands so were not able to take advantage of the class. Now my husband is getting deployed so we will be leaving STL for a while and definitely wont be able to use the credit as much as we wanted to. I called Jan Fishman, the coordinator to explain the situation and ask for a refund for my sister since we won't be able to use the class for reasons out of our control. Not only was she rude and unsympathetic she literally hung up the phone on me mid sentence while I was trying to work something out. If I couldnt get a refund I was going to suggest at least adding money to the balance and transferring it to a friend's name so that I could give it as a gift for someone elses child. However, I did not even get to discuss that prospect because Jan Fishman shockingly hung up on me in the middle of a civil conversation. I assumed we got disconnected so I called back right away and she did not answer. I called again a couple minutes later and she finally answered. When I told her we must have gotten disconnected she admitted that she hung up purposely and then hung up again. I am still so taken aback by her completely unprofessional, unwilling, and outright rude attitude. I WOULD NOT reccommend any sort of establishment that is run by someone of this nature. It is a true shame that there are people so completely unwilling to give their customers any sort of courtesy or even respect. I am utterly disgusted. ...read more

Another amazing weekend seminar!!

Six members of the Kokondo Martial Arts of Greater St. Louis dojo travelled to our sister dojo in Mountain Home, Arkansas for their first ever Regional Seminar with the head of our system, Kaicho Greg Howard. There was a tremendous amount of knowledge transmitted, lots of refinement of technique and a bunch of plain, hard work.  We all had a great time.
