About Owensville, MO
Owensville is located in eastern Missouri and known for its park system and neighboring lake developments. Major attractions include Buschmann City Square Park, Memorial Park, and the Owensville Golf Course. Each year in the summer season the town hosts the Gasconade County Fair. Well-known companies in Owensville are Hoffman Brothers Robe Company and Phoenix Winery Incorporated. The public schools here are Owensville High School, Owensville Middle School and Owensville Elementary. One of the best places to visit when you are in Owensville is the Scenic Public Library. Owensville should have been called Lusterville after blacksmith Edward Luster won the naming rights in a horseshoe throwing match against friend Frank Owen, but Luster insisted on calling the town Owen’s Ville, later shortened to Owensville.
