Selecting the right window tint
There are plenty of places to choose from in the Austin / Round Rock area when it comes to window tinting. And once you settle on a shop you have to decide which film you want installed. With such a wide range in prices, it can be hard to make a decision. I'm going to break it down for you. Let's take, for example, the 3 main film options offered at Solar Shield Custom Tint in south Round Rock. 1. Standard dyed film It looks great. It saves you money up front. It has a 3 year warranty. So what's not to love? A quality dyed film is a great choice for many applications. But, and there's the "but" you were waiting for; ANY dyed film will fade over time and eventually turn purple. These films use a combination of yellow, red, and blue dyes to make that beautiful black finish you see above. As the central Texas sun beats down on your car day in and day out, the dyes begin to fade. And naturally, the yellow dyes begin to fade first leaving you with a purple look. Then, as the red and blue dyes fade, your purple tint becomes lighter and lighter purple. Removing old tint is no fun and it will be a costly and time consuming task down the road. So if you just bought a car and plan to keep it for 5 or 10 years, you'll want to be aware of what you're signing up for with dyed film. Like I said, not a bad film for what it is but there is a reason dyed tint is usually only warrantied for 3 years. 2. Carbon construction film Looks great. Middle of the road price. Lifetime warranty. Carbon construction films have been around for awhile now and they are a solid choice for someone looking for a lifetime film that they won't have to mess with down the road. It blocks more solar energy than a dyed film and it will NEVER fade or turn purple. If you're not looking to spend a ton of money on tint but you want something that will last, this is the film for you. 3. Nano-ceramic Looks phenomenal. Blocks a ton of solar energy (heat). Lifetime warranty. Ceramic films are somewhat new on the window tinting scene. In the past, metallic films were the go-to for high performance heat rejection. But metallic films interfere with radio, GPS, cellular reception which became a problem in the age of cell phones and navigation. Ceramic film offers the best performance of any window film technology in the history of the industry (without messing with your phone or nav). This allows for maximum heat rejection out of lighter films. Even "clear" ceramic films can block almost half of incoming solar energy. If you're looking to reduce maximum heat (with or without super dark film), ceramic is the film choice for you. There is a tint for every taste and budget and being informed is crucial. Your car is a big investment and you want to invest in the film that makes sense for your individual needs. Visitwww.solarshieldtint.comfor a free quote and consultation today. ...read more

In Round Rock (or anywhere in Texas) window tint is a must have
With ambient temperatures between 80 and 100 degrees (about 8 months a year in the Austin area), the interior of a vehicle parked in the sun can quickly reach 130 to 172 degrees! Our films are designed with the latest technology to selectively block wavelengths that cause heat (also blocking >99% of UV rays). With modern solar films, tint doesn't have to be dark to reject significant amounts of solar radiation. Even clear film designed for windshields can block nearly half of incoming solar energy. Bottom line, tinting your vehicle keeps it cooler while shielding you, your interior and your passengers from uncomfortable and damaging rays. If you live in the Round Rock area and are thinking about tint, check out https://www.solarshieldtint.com or call 512.971.0737 for more info. info@solarshieldtint.com ...read more
