In the shadow of the Courthouse, on the corner of 13th and Locust, there is a gem hidden away. Taking a wrong turn duirng the Big 12 Tournament put me on the doorstep of the Power and Light Grill, where I sat down with the intent of just grabbing a snack and heading back toward the Sprint Center. I ordered the Chips and Salsa and waited. The chips were freshly cooked, thin and crisp and the Salsa was a mix of traditional with a Marinara consistancy. The food smelled so good I decided to order. I asked for a menu and was immediately impressed by the selection! I eliminted the Jayhawker (grilled chicken breast) and had almost settled on the Wildcat (grilled ham) when I made the mistake of looking at the specials board. There, staring at me was an Open-Faced Roast Beef Sandwich. I was helpless to resist. And I was not dissappointed. Seasoned, sliced roast beef on top of real smashed potatoes on top of FRESHLY baked Texas Toast and covered with a light beef gravy. The best I have ever had! ...read more
