Love Your Little Flaws

You are your own worst critic.  You create stress just by being you, if you're being critical of yourself.  Learn to love your little flaws, and you'll soon start feeling less stressed. I think it's important to have goals... and even more important to keep and achieve them.  But being critical of yourself while you are trying desperately to invoke change is unreasonable and unhealthy.  It's one thing to not like something about yourself; it's another to put yourself down, causing yourself stress and anxiety over an issue you're acutely aware of.  Learn first to be accepting of yourself for who you are - this could be a personality trait, a physical characteristic, a quirk, etc.  Understand why you are the way you are.  Then, ask yourself why you want to change or what you could possibly improve.  Establish a plan on how to get there and achieve your goal to change the flaws you do not like.  In the meantime, laugh a little.  Understand that part of who you are is in fact, some of our best flaws.  You're human - it's ok NOT to be perfect. I think about the flaws I have - taking on too much at one time, all the scars I have, and finally, the fact I work too much.  I think about the flipside to those flaws - I'm ambitious, have battle scars and a story to tell for each one, and love my job.  I am FAR from perfect - those aren't the only flaws but some of the main ones.  You can only take on so many flaw corrections at a time.  But If you can do the same - learn to see the good side of your flaws, you'll be in good shape, and will not cause yourself any more inner stress than necessary. See you on the flipside! ...read more

Resolutions in the Making

It's the day after the first of the year.  Resolutions have been made, for the most part, by all those that have good intentions of keeping them.  It's a brand new day and year!  We are excited!  Gooooo TEAM RESOLUTION! Ok, stop right there.  I'm not sure what the statistic is on people keeping New Year's resolutions, and frankly, I don't care.  The point is, about halfway through February, people start giving up on their quit smoking, lose weight, spend more time doing whatever-type resolution. WHY?  Why do we lose sight of something that we want to do?  It seems like if we want something at the store, we either 1) buy it or 2) save for it, then buy.  There's value associated with it.  We "resolved" ourselves into believing that the item will somehow improve our current status or situation.  Are we not buying into ourselves with resolutions? It's hard to imagine the entire planet wanting to do things and then just giving up prematurely.  We'd be a planet of non-doers.  How pathetic.  My point is, if you want something bad enough to wait until the New Year for a reason to make it known, then do it.  Finish your goal.  Invest in yourself because after all, rarely do opportunities come around where someone else invests in something we want.  Think about it... I made some pretty basic resolutions this year, and I plan to execute each one.  I've carefully crafted out my plan and have set some reasonable goals in a timeline.  Resolutions are in the making - the constant revision and realignment to how our current situation is, and where we want it to be.  Don't give up on yourself or your goals this year.  Find value and worth in what goals you want to accomplish and put your own pricetag on it.  Maybe then you'll buy into it.  ...read more
