I am not an expert camper. However ,I have grown up in Northern MN and am familliar with the area and the outdoors. When I camped there with my b.f. it was hot -----in the 90's. A main attraction at this campground is a bog----not THE main atttraction, there is lake, hiking trails,biking, boating, etc. Anyway, a bog in the heat did not sound appealing, maybe a good way to catch west nile virus. There were many camping spots----none secluded, a very crowded state campground and the grass was just worn away and it was dusty. The fellow campers and staff were extremely nice---and there were lots of great trees. The local area is gorgeous with woods and good for shopping as well. Don't miss out on homemade blueberry pancakes--not at the campground but in town. This campsite was easy to check into, has very nice rest rooms, including family restrooms and shower rooms. I'd like to try this place again during an off season time. The next day we went to Cameron Beach , a local public beach and that was small sandy and gave a great view of lake Bemidji. And we saw the infamous Paul and Babe statues by the beach downtown. Bemidji has a lot to offer and if yu are a nature freak you'll dig the place.
