No Property Tax law for Disabled Veterans-State of Michigan News

This news worth sharing for any family member or field that is a disabled veteran, no more real estate property taxes! Yes, that's right, the State of Michigan recently passed a law allowing for disabled veterans who were honorably discharged to apply for an exemption from real estate property taxes. The exemption must be filed every year and the veteran must meet 1 of the following 3 criteria: 1. The U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs has determined that the veteran is permanently and totally disabled as a result of military service and entitled to veterans' benefits at the 100% rate. 2. The veteran has a certificate from the U.S Veterans' Administration, or its successors, certifying that he or she is receiving or has received pecuniary assistance due to disability for specially adapted housing. 3. The U.S. Department of Veterans' Affairs has rated the veteran as individually unemployable. Where to get this form? The State of Michigan State Tax Commission has an affidavit form for the disabled veteran to file with their local assessor. Great news to pass on to a disabled veteran that has given so much to our county. ...read more

Government Loans in Macomb County for Housing Repairs-Zero Interest!!!

Government Loans in Macomb County for Housing Repairs-ZERO INTEREST! It's almost spring, you have sat around all winter long thinking about repairs that your home may need.  You know what the list has on it, repair roof, new furnace, and the list goes on, and on...One huge problem, no MONEY!...Sure you are current on your mortgage payments, homeowners insurance and property tax payments.  That still does not solve your problem of lack of funds and no money.  O.K. here it is...the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is offering certain areas of Macomb County deferred, zero-interest loans of up to $20,000.00.  The program is called the "Home Repair Assistance" program, and certain communities are eligible. The loans are deferred until your home is sold to a new owner, and then at that time they are due in full. The program does have certain household income levels.  This program is geared toward the overall economic stability of the neighborhoods.  This is how to get started and get the information, you can find the guidelines and application atwww.macombcountymi.gov/mcpedor by calling (586) 469-5285. One question that I am always asked by a Seller is, "When should I fix the leaking roof?   Now?   Or right before I am ready to sell?"  If you are having a hard time selling, due to refurbishing issues, this is the answer.  This spring, take advantage of the program with zero-interest and a deferred payment until the closing date. Then call me and we will put a marketing plan into action to list and sell your home.  Your home will stand out from the rest having many repairs just completed! ...read more
