A couple years ago I started shopping here and was quite satisfied with the selection. I decided it might be a good idea to sell some items as well. About three months ago I brought in some assorted gently used clothing and accessories. Some of them still had the original tags and stickers. They took most of it, and gave back what they think wouldn't sell, which was completely understandable. The only thing that hit a nerve was the reason they gave me for returning a pair of converse I had worn maybe 5 times. They said it was "a little too worn". I accepted them back politely and left. As I was walking out a pair of shoes on their shelves caught my eye. More like the layer of grime caked inside of them caught my eye. I'm not a fan of hypocrisy, and seeing some of the less than desirable items for sale really rubbed me the wrong way. \r\nI thought to myself, "Things will get better, I'm sure this is a good business and they know what they're doing. I was wrong and disappointed. A week ago they talked to me about making an appointment to pick up my unsold items. To any reasonable person this would translate to walking in, picking up the bags full of unsold items, and carrying on with the rest of one's day. But that would be too simple. Instead, when I walked in for my appointment, I was handed list of my items, and was told to go on a scavenger hunt. The unprofessionalism of this establishment's system has turned me away completely. It is not the client's job to do the employee's job for them, especially when the business is receiving about 70% of the profit off of items they didn't even purchase. I will no longer be supporting such a lazy business. I would much rather donate my belongings to Goodwill than to receive money for them and watch this establishment make a profit from me. This little consignment shop is a delight to browse....and shop! In the heart of downtown Three Rivers, Michigan, it is accessible and quaint...and always manages to catch my eye with their window displays. Clothes, jewelry, furniture, toys (including vintage) are reasonably priced, nicely displayed, and only gently used.
