The main boss Adam will make you call him 100 times before he gets back to you. They installed granite which is crooked and water leaks between the granite and faucet. Fame flooring out in laminate and carpeting that is very poor quality. The workers complained about the bosses and are unprofessional themselves. Fame Flooring Inc

My experience with fame flooring was bad not once but two times. I know I should have know better. The workmanship is poor, they do not care about finishing the job and once you pay the advance you are stuck with them and they know it. They will make all kinds of excuses for the shoddy work and most annoying they try to pin the blame on you for their poor work and will try to gouge extra money from you. Be wary of smooth talk and act of caring for detail - all this will end as soon as you pay the advance. On the first job, they painted over the wood work on the wall, installed the dishwasher incorrectly and screwed up installation of an expensive faucet. I had to install a new dishwasher and faucet. On the second job, they left a big hole in the kitchen cabinets and to add insult to injury wanted me to pay to rectify it. The job is subcontracted with zero supervision by fame flooring. ...read more

Carpet Color and the Effects of Natural Light

You just got the perfect carpet in the store.  But when you install the carpet, the color looked quite different than when you chose it at the store.  The fact is that natural light gives a different effect on carpet than the artificial lights in the store.  As such, it may be a good idea to view swatches of the carpet in your home before making the purchase. Here are some very basic guidelines on the effect of natural light on home décor to help you with your choice. Rooms Facing North – Northern light is cold and in the winter can be very harsh. This can be softened and warmed with yellow, orange, or subtle red carpeting.  Blues and greens should be avoided since these will make the room colder. Rooms Facing South – Southern Light is sunny and warm. This time, blues and greens can cool the room. Rooms Facing East – Eastern light gives sunny mornings, muted mid-days and dark afternoons. Rooms with Eastern light should have a mixture of warm and cool colors.  Carpet flooring should be warm and bright while furniture and décor should have cool hues. Rooms Facing West – Rooms with Western light have the sunshine in the afternoon and the evening. Neutral shades are best for these since cool bluish colors will make it too dark while warm colors can be too intense in the afternoon light. ...read more

Better Green Flooring – Cork or Bamboo?

As we try to embody environmental concerns in our everyday life, a large part of it includes the use of green materials for our home.  It would seem simple, but the different options can make choice difficult, especially if we want the best for our home.  For green flooring options, cork and bamboo are the most popular.    Which one is the better choice? Unlike wood from trees, bamboo originates from grass that does not die when harvested and replenishes itself after a few years.  Similarly, cork comes from tree barks which keep the tree able to replenish itself in a few years after harvest.  Both flooring options support sustainability  but they have different characteristics. Bamboo flooring is harder and known to be more durable than cork.  On the other hand, cork is more comfortable under the feet because it is softer.  Though cork can also be made durable if properly sealed and installed.  But it does tend to dent easily versus the hardness of bamboo which is comparable to hardwood.  At the end of the day, the choice will boil down to which flooring functions better and more efficiently in your home.  A home with a lot of children and heavy traffic will do much better with bamboo flooring.  If the home is also exposed to a lot of sunlight, bamboo is more resilient against fading compared to cork.  Meanwhile, cork flooring is a great option in kitchens or people with back problems.  Regardless of the choice, both are the best options for green flooring. ...read more

Types of Glass Shower Doors

Modern trends in bathroom design show that glass shower doors are becoming more popular.  Glass shower doors not only make a bathroom look better, it also helps keep water away from the rest of the area than shower curtains.  However, there may be a lot more considerations before installing glass shower doors in your bathroom.   The major issue with glass shower doors would be space.  There are shower doors that do work well for small bathrooms, but it can cramp your bath area if not chosen well. Safety should likewise be a consideration if there are children or seniors living at home.  Glass can be dangerous in case of slips or falls. Here are the different types of shower doors that are available in the market. 1.  Clear Glass – This is ideal for small bathrooms since it gives the illusion of wider space because the entire shower area is visible.  2.  Tempered Glass – This is the most popular choice for glass shower doors.  The tempering process makes the glass stronger and frosty which provides more privacy than clear glass.  3.  Sandblasted – Glass shower doors can be sandblasted to embed designs on the glass for aesthetic and privacy reasons. 4.  Plexi-Glass – This is the best option for those who have safety issues at home since it is made from plastic though it looks like glass.  It is lighter and will not shatter into shards if broken.  It is also less expensive. ...read more
