My fiance and I finally finished the appellate process for our case against this company. We we're awarded judgement in our favor of $3600. Joan Lord, the owner is a deceitful person who put our family in danger knowingly. She placed us in a property, only for us to realize upon moving in there was no hot water, hidden black mold in the apartment, the basement, and the upstairs apartment, and multiple sources of lead exposure through paint that was chipping, cracked, peeling, and bubbling. (I have photographic evidence of all of this.) She refused to provide us with a lead inspection certificate, would not make any repairs, and upon our moving out she did not return our security deposit or the five months of rent we had paid upfront upon signing our lease. I was pregnant, and also had a toddler age two. My two year old daughter had elevated lead levels from staying only two days in the place. Joan Lord was non sympathetic, and only wanted to keep our money. Luckily, the judge didn't fall for her lies. She is continuing to rent the mentioned apartment to anyone who pays the security deposit and first month's rent, with personal knowledge that she will not be held accountable. The structure can not be deemed uninhabitable and condemned because the inspectors "do not deal with mold". When I moved in there were many damages already present. The maintenece and landord refused to fix the damages and later held it against me. Very unprofessional and completely goes against the lease agreement. The lanlord illegally forces her way through my apartment and goes through my personal possessions. I have been harassed and yelled at, very unprofessional and certainly not friendly. This is one of the worst places to rent, not only does the apartment row have a serious pipe/leakage issue but the Lanlords and maintenance men refuse to do their jobs correctly and professionally.
