We hired Syd to pour a concrete patio for our home. Syd came by and gave us a quote, in writing of what the job would cost and entail. Syd dropped off his crew to start the job and once my entire lawn (in the work area) was ripped up we were called and the quote tripled in price. We agreed to the work, what choice did we really have our yard was destroyed? The crew told me how the area was going to be, the wall would be 3 rows high with backfill to fill in the area they dug up. Syd came by and told me it would only be 2 rows high, thats what he budgeted for. I explained to Syd that I NEVER would have agreed to such an outlandish price had I thought I would be getting such a small wall. With major reluctance Syd agreed to honor what his workers told me. The job was 90% complete and Syd came by for his payment (cash was requested) I gave him the money with his promise to return the following week to seal the concrete. Its been 7 months and we STILL do not have a sealed patio. We have been promised and promised by Syd that he would return to finish the job he was paid for and he has yet to do so. I have been told by another concrete company that the job still has about $600 worth of work left to be done (the cost of the sealant and labor). I'm at the point now where Im going to have to call in another company to complete his work and then take legal steps to get my money back from him. Honest business man, I think not. ...read more
