My daughters dance competition was held at the Latana, they had to dance there for 3 days. The second day, the first the girls danced for a total of 14 hours, we were told we could not bring in outside food, we were never told this before. They asked us to take the food outside after the girls just danced for a couple of hours and it was 100 degrees outside. I wouldn't have minded buying food from them if they had a selection that my 8 year old would eat, and not sandwiches that were there the whole 3 days and pizza that was black on top. Also they expected us to not bring in outside food when we are there for 15 hour days and the year before they ran out of food and when asked for tables and chairs for the kids to sit on we were told that they don't have to provide this that the kids can sit on the floor. Because they were making people sit outside they also violated fire violations because all of the exits were blocked by hundreds of dancers that were sitting outside in front of the doors, in the 100 degree weather, trying to eat their food. I would not recommend this hall for rental. The manager and the bartender were rude! When I complained to the manager about the service of the bartender he was rude and acted like I was bothering him and told me he couldn't do anything about it, because he was just the function manager. The bartender kept leaving his post, yelled at his customers and the drinks he made were HORRIBLE! They told me there was a fully functioning kitchen that could be used and it was disgusting with mold & electrical problems. There is no handicap access to the lower function hall. My friend and I threw a party here on NYE and had the worst bartender imaginable. She wouldn't serve people drinks after 10pm, she denied that they accept credit cards (when there was a working credit card machine upstairs). She invited her friends and then asked MY guests to move from one end of the bar so that she could have her guests sit there. She kicked us out before our contracted time. I called and complained, said I should be entitled to a refund for her services. They said they would bring it up at the Board meeting, and I would receive a phone call when a decision was reached. Having never hearing back from anyone, I called today and was told we would not be receiving any money back for her services, but they assured us that she had been fired. I asked who I could further discuss this with, and I was told to come to a Board of Directors meeting, but there was no number to reach them at directly, nor was there a meeting schedule.
