New England Gem Appraisals

You don’t get 5 stars from so many people unless it’s true! Beth and Steve are the real deal! New England Gem Appraisals has a real office and with all their diplomas, you immediately know they are the consummate professionals in their field. Be sure to set up an appointment with them, an easy thing to do through their website. They responded quickly to my initial inquiry. I did not need to leave my jewelry with them, a huge bonus and relief. My jewelry never left my sight. They did the initial evaluation and photography during the appointment. My appraisal was mailed to me a few days later. It was a bound book, very different from the one-page jewelry store appraisals. During the appointment, they gave me all sorts of extra information about my diamonds, something o one else ever did. I was finally able to see what my diamond really looked like! It’s an incredible experience that I never expected from “you need to get a new appraisal in order to get new insurance”. It was actually fun and educational. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND New England Gem Appraisals! (And the European Bakery shop downstairs is a real plus!) ...read more

New England Gem Appraisals

First of all, I generally don't post reviews on websites. However, I REALLY needed to post this one. Hopefully this posting will make searching for an appraiser easier for others. If there was a rating higher than 5 on this website, I would without reservation give it to Beth Doughty and New England Gem Appraisals.I had a possible case of fraud where I was sold a diamond by a large jewelry chain. Another jeweler told me that the diamond appeared to be a lower quality than what was shown on its certificate. We desperately needed to verify the validity of the certificate we had received, as the diamond in question was a very high cost item.Due to the conflicting statements, I started doing a lot of research on the internet for a reputable independent jewelry appraiser in my area to get this matter settled. After reading reviews on various websites, I decided to give Beth Doughty a try.Beths thorough analysis and appraisal of the diamond proved that we did indeed have something fishy going on. Her appraisal definitely did not match the certificate we had in our hands.Beth could have at that point, just charged us for the appraisal and sent us on our way. But she did not do that. She took the extra time to go online to verify the certificate was from the Gemological Institute of America. She then showed us under the microscope exactly what were the differences between the diamond and the certificate ...all of this with no extra charge. With Beth's help, we were able to go back to the jewelry store and get the matter resolved to our satisfaction.I have never met someone so dedicated, knowledgeable, professional, and friendly to her customers. She's a compassionate individual who truly cares for her clients. Without any hesitation, I would recommend Beth to anyone looking for an honest and accurate jewelry appraisal. From this point forward, Beth Doughty and New England Gem Appraisals will be my go-to appraiser for all my jewelry appraisal needs. ...read more
