We hired Paulena to sell our home in Slidell as we were relocating and having a new home built in Texas. We chose her over the other real estate agents that we interviewed due to her sleek presentation and what, at the time, seemed like her knowledge due to the fact that she stressed that she trained agents and once ran the Keller Williams office she now works for. We soon learned that a teacher does not a real estate seller make. As our new home was moving along faster than we had been told, we needed to get out home sold ASAP. Paulena’s answer was to reduce the price and increase the exposure on Craigslist and Facebook. We don’t know about everyone else but those are not the places we look when in the market for a new home. Since Paulena was falling very short of our expectations, we reached out to a more experienced agent within her agency to help sell our home. The agent suggested that they do a co-brokering as to not lose time with having to re-do pictures and the listing. We were not happy with this but moved forward as we really needed the house sold. This was our last dealing with Paulena. The co-brokering agent re-did the listing, placed featured ads on the major real estate sites and reached out to fellow agents. With all that in place, the co-brokering agent not only found an agent who had a buyer for our home but when the buyer had trouble with financing they used their contacts and got the buyer approved and the house closed. Since we had been told this was a co-brokering deal, we assumed that the commission from the sale of the house would be split between to two selling agents. We were wrong! Paulena took all of the selling commission and only gave the co-broker agent a finder’s fee. Paulena did nothing after the co-broker stepped in and for her to keep the majority of the selling agent’s commission is ethically and morally wrong.
