I fully believe in supporting small local business and I realize you pay a little more for the personal touch. However, a "no cost" way for the small store to compete is to have competitive return policies and be flexible. I bought an adapter for travel and it wasn't what we needed so I went to return it with the receipt which stated returns accepted within 2 weeks. I was shocked to learn their electronics return policy was 3 days and they stated there was a sign in the store (which I never saw). I believe if you have such strict policies on certain items the sales staff should point it out. It was not a busy or hectic time when I purchased it. I was the only one in the store. The clerk seemed sorry but the owners just got defensive. I left angry and having thrown away $35.00. Not a huge amount of money but I will not ever go back.
