Coach Automotive Restyling

1.0

By CoryMcClanahan

I would like to share with you my recent terrible experience trying to exercise a auto dealership approved warranty claim concerning my less than one-year-old leather auto seats done by Coach Automotive Restyling in Kansas City, Kansas. My new leather seats are experiencing discoloration on a section of the lower backrest portion of the driver’s seat where the seat warmers expel heat. The Coach Automotive owner was not willing to accept this warranty claim claiming that the fact that I wore jeans, a belt, coats, or any form of clothing while sitting in the seats made it possible that my clothing had caused the discoloration. This is the most ridiculous failure to stand by your product I have ever seen in my 15 years of dealing with businesses. To exercise the warranty claim the owner, Gary Seiden, required I sign a paper committing to pay him to replace the seat because he thought it could have been caused by other factors. This place is a joke and so is the owner. Beware! ...read more

Keith's Transmission Service

1.0

By moparman67 at Citysearch

I took my vehicle in because it was giving a couple of codes that indicated a solenoid needed replaced. I was charged a $45 diagnostic fee by Keith's transmission to verify that the solenoid was indeed bad. That was fine. The shop indicated that they felt more work was needed than just replacing the solenoid. Based on my research, I disagreed. The shop was booked up for a week, so I brought the vehicle back a week later. I finally got the shop to agree to just replace the solenoid. He would not agree to charge me actual time, but did agree to charge me "book" time. I asked for an estimate, and he would only provide a range ($600-900 - pretty big range seeing as how it was going to be book time and that is not hard to look up). He said he would fax me an estimate the next morning, but I was not going to be anywhere near a fax machine to evaluate before the repair was done. I confirmed that he was only going to charge book time, he said yes, I gave the okay to do the repair. As part of this repair, approximately 1 quart of fluid will drain out and need to be replaced. I confirmed this with several other sources. When I the call that the repair was done, wouldn't you know that it was $900.03!! It did not show a breakdown of the hours, just a lump sum amount of $750 for labor. I called to get the labor rate ($60/hr) this equals 12.5 hours of time. I did a little bit more research and found that the typical "book" times for this repair were for less hours than what he charged. I even paid a fee to subscribe to "AllData" which is the book that he uses to determine shop time. Maybe he didn't think I would question it, who knows. I thought I would give him the benefit of the doubt and not accuse him of overcharging. I thought I would give him an out, like he had perhaps looked up the wrong hours and give him a chance to correct the invoice. When I asked him if he got beligerent and said he wasn't going to re-evaluate, and that the extra hours were for diagnostics. Well, I had already paid the previous week for diagnostics. And the labor time includes any post installation checks that the shop needs to do prior to returning the vehicle to the customer. Bottom line is this: The work performed seems to be adequate. I have no issues with that (although it has only been a week). If a customer just wants a job done by a surly shop owner, and is not concerned with price or courtesy, then this is probably a good place to go for the repair. But if you are like me, and intelligent enough to know what is right (although maybe not personally equipped to do transmission removals and overhauls) and want to pay a fair price for labor, then this is definitely not the place to go. I was overcharged by at least 2 hours of labor, and for 5 extra quarts of fluid that were not needed. I will definitely NOT bring any of my vehicles to this shop for future work. ...read more

Vern's Import Service

1.0

By TrueInformation

Now that Vern is gone, the monkeys are in charge! The nice atmosphere is gone and so is the integrity, just the sight of the new (old and crappy) location made me want to not step foot in there. I now go to KC Autosport where it is safe and clean. Do waste one penny with this new owner, you will regret it. It isn't Vern's Imports anymore, Mike and Michelle had to keep the name just to keep a few customers. If you had any problems at Vern's previous location it wasn't Vern's fault, it was the dynamic duo of Mike and Michelle, neither one has loyalty or honor. If you do choose to waste your money ask to see their insurance and certifications!!! ...read more
