How it all began............

City Cycle Sales, Inc. was started as a part time hobby business in 1962 by Wayne Jaecke with five hundred dollars cash, five Harley-Davidson Motorcycles on consignment and a lot of hope. As the business grew to a full time venture Wayne’s wife ultimately became involved in the day to day operations. The shop was small but grew slowly in the beginning, to evolve into one of largest motorcycle dealerships in central Kansas. Due primarily to the outlaw image motorcyclists had at the time, arranging financing was difficult. With persistence and hard work Wayne kept at it. The store had to do their own financing back then and recovery of vehicles when the payments weren’t made. The store had been housed in five different locations, each one a little larger and progressively nicer than its predecessor.   At a young age Wayne’s interest in motorcycles grew and, he began tinkering with them. He had friends who looked up to him and admired his ability to work on motorcycles. He began gaining an honest hard-workingreputation among the community and surrounding states. Riders from the neighboring 4 states often came to City Cycle Sales to have their bikes serviced by Wayne. This reputation continues even today as the shop has grown in size and staff.  Wayne A. Jaecke also raced Harley-Davidson’s in the early days. Back then, Michigan’s grueling, two-day, 500-mile Jack Pine Enduro was the biggest off-road events of the year. And from 1923 through 1955, riders on Harley-Davidsons won 22 of 28 Jack Pines. He raced in the Jackpine Enduro Race taking first place not once but three times straight. ...read more
