This past summer, my husband graciously took me back to my hometown (1960s) in Portage, Indiana. We used to ride our bikes up to the Dari Dip for the coolest thing since the YMCA pool in George L. Meyers' parking lot -- the $.50 chocolate/vanilla swirl, heaven in a waffle cone. Memories flooded back when I realized that the secret of the cone is in pushing down with your tongue (on the very first lick) to be sure that the last bite of the waffle cone isn't dry. This place is a throw back to the 50's. Great Real Ice Cream, not Ice Milk like most of the big chain desert places. The food was great. The employees were friendly and the place was very clean. I can't wait until March when they open for the season. ...read more
