Not enough space to give all the details, but suffice it to say that our meal was a disaster. Sweet cooled cream butter came after bread had been served AND refilled. Waitress did not know the menu or the wine list. She didn't know what was in "roasted root" side dish and didn't bother to find out; she told us the soup was a creamed vegetable ~ but it was actually a cold puree (surprise!). Three of the lamb dinners (even the one that was ordered medium-rare) and the child's burger were burned/charred; they told us they had a "new grill." Disappointing substitutions were made on our meals in the kitchen without asking our aproval. One steak way under-done, one over-done and had to be sent back. (And please believe me, we aren't a picky group.) To top it off, waitress spilled a drink on my dinner plate right after serving my lamb ~ my entire meal had to be recooked, and I was served after rest of the party finished eating. When my meal finally did arrive at the table, it was so under-done that I just took it home and finished cooking it in the micro-wave. To add insult to injury, we were charged for an item we did not order ~ and the gratuity (over $75.00 for poor service) was automatically addded to bill. We were there to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary, and we were all disappointed and angry. As we left, we were surprised to learn that the manager had not been informed of all the errors and problems with our food and service. Manager was told about the fiasco; no adjustments were made to the food bill (which was in excess of $450.00.) He did send one of the couples home with two bottles of wine. \t\n\t\nWhile the location is charming (in a hole-in-the-wall kind of way,) the service was frustrating (at best) and the food ~ while it sounds promising on the menu ~ WAS VERY DISAPPOINTING. \t\n\t\nMy suggestion would be to skip the Horror-Story Inn and eat at the Abe Martin Lodge in the Brown County State Park.\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n\t\n ...read more
