J.W. Anderson Construction LLC

2.0

By John Titus

I contracted J.W. Anderson and his company to mitigate mold and water damage in a very small area of my home. After several weeks of fighting my insurance company to get a check for the covered damage, it came up about 800 dollars short of the estimate originally quoted to me by J.W. Anderson. So he told me he would do things to cut costs, such as instead of replacing the floors, using chemicals and other things that are outside of my paygrade. He then said he would be able to replace the damaged insulation and moisture barrier because a relative of his could get scraps from other jobs for very cheap and make up the difference. Well here I am, nearly a year later, and while the mold and water damage has been mitigated, I have around 200 square feet of missing insulation under my house because despite Mr. Anderson giving me his word to handle it "anyway", the job was never finished. And here comes winter. Imagine you're in my position, how would you feel? I should also add that while I was attempting to get the final check from my insurance company, I had to beg them to expedite because while Mr. Anderson had still not finished the job he had agreed to do, he had informed me had began filing a lien against my home. A LIEN AGAINST MY HOME AND PROPERTY FOR WORK THAT WAS NOT YET COMPLETED. Unfortunately for me, in the state of Indiana the law is on the side of the contractor. What could I do except call and beg Mr. Anderson to give me some time to argue (again) with my insurance company. Well, I did, and he gave me 24 hours. Fortunately, I was able to find someone with some level of reason within the catacombs of the insurance world and a check was mailed out overnight to me. Mr. Anderson was paid in full. The job? Not so much. ...read more

Covington Square Apartments

Not even under sheer desperation should you come here. This place is almost as bad as living in a shelter, only difference is that you actually pay your hard earned money to live in this dump. The office staff are rude, and they are theives. The maintanence men, while they are very nice, do NOT fix anything. While the apartment is very spacious, that is the only NICE feature. The plumbing is horrible, are stove just went out, the dishwasher is a joke. I think the office staff may use the neighborhood kids to paint the apartments before the new tenants move in because our apartment was horrible BUT we were desperate. We are moving out no doubt when are lease is up. I'd rather rent a weekly room than to resign my lease!!!! ...read more

Covington Square Apartments

I've spent the last 6 months trying to get things fixed which were broken when I moved in. I lived 5 months with little to no heat (through the winter) and the broken dishwasher has been filled with mold for the last 6 months. Covington Square is quite possibly the worst complex I've ever lived in. EVER. And I lived in a college town at one point in my life. There is a rotating cast of characters in the front office. They always say "Oh no! We'll fix it immediately." Nothing, and I can't stress this enough, NOTHING is ever fixed. I have now filed a complaint with the Indiana Attorney General's office. We'll see how that goes. They've cost be HUNDREDS and HUNDREDS of dollars in leave from my work while I wait for repair people who NEVER show up. There is nothing good about this complex. RUN. RUN FAR AWAY. I have started collecting stories about this place to take to the media. if you have lived here, email me your experience at CovingtonSquareLies (a) gmail dot com. ...read more
