Diane Richards Design

5.0

By lacey90 at Citysearch

We needed a new logo and stationery package and Diane did an outstanding job. We were not easy people to work with... 3 partners with different ideas trying to agree. But Diane worked through different design without a problem. She listened to what we wanted then came back with suggestions and different design ideas and explained ""here's why."" The end product exceeded our expectations. clients who were familiar with our old logo went ""Wow"". ...read more

Things to consider when planning your website's design

Your home page will be the most visited page on your website. Some viewers will only see this page and all viewers will make up their mind about what your page represents based on the home page's impact. If they like what they see or they find what they were looking for, chances are they will keep looking, if not they will look for a site better suiting their taste and needs. Of course you so not want to be the latter so if you are establishing your web page for the first time or re-designing an existing web page it's best to not only know what you want but to get what you need. When establishing a starting point Tsvee Tech advises that you explore your desired functionality of your web page. Will you be presenting information, showcasing media, seeking user interactions, selling products and services? If you just want to display information you will need a basic web site. A dynamic web page will be needed for streaming videos, seeking customer information through blogs and forms, membership sign ups, file sharing and forums allowing for feedback from visitors. If you plan to sell products or services over the Internet you will need to choose a shopping cart and prepare to accept funds. In many cases you will find providers that will process credit cards and will charge your account a fee per dollar transaction or monthly income. Pay Pal is the most popular example of this type of service. In many cases sign ups are required for these services and additional processing fees are something you'll want to research. Accepting many payment methods might be the best avenue. A good rule of thumb is to keep it simple, if you receive requests to accept an additional form of payment then you should consider it. Once you have established your web page's main purpose create a map of how you want your web page to be laid out. It is often easy to go to a web page and tell the developer "I want my site to be like this." but before that, ask yourself: "what elements of this site do I like?" Then you can convey a clear picture to your designer. If you are not sure what layout you want give yourself a few options. Decide on necessary pages and their connections but leave leeway for additions and changes. Do the same for your desired color scheme. The most important thing to consider for any web page is content. Your web page will be rated by search engines based upon the volume of related content to your site's base. In that sense, more is better! If you are writing your own content, focus on your topic from a reader's point of view. You don't want to drone on and loose the attention of your viewer, but you also want to allow a visitor to scan the text and get the general idea. Most important of all - don't just spell check, read and re-read overcontent before it is published to your site! Any slight error will reflect you. If someone else is generating your content specify what you do not want them to include and be sure to provide them with the tools to conjure up legitimate and stimulating material that positively reflects on you. Many marketing and web building companies offer this service. When Tsvee Tech receives a web design contract we always ask about content and try to get a good idea of what the client wants. Then we provide 3 mock-ups which take into consideration the specifications and offer variations to properly meet the desiredcolor of "blue" or header thickness or menu design etc. Be sure your web designer understands what you want. ...read more
